Leave Spargo, do not sign another contract, nothing good is coming for this group

I’m convinced this team has no ticker!  They are a disgrace of a team.

I am very very close to walking from this club, not to another but away from the sport. I can not do another rebuild under another coach.

I am a member of Storm and Victory.  It’s uplifting.  You expect to win, not be ‘frustrated, disappointed, gutted’ all the time.  Storm and Victory have game plans. Goodwin has neither

13 to 6 inside 50s.

1.3 to 3.2 for the quarter.

Not many gameplans work when you don’t tackle and pressure and can’t kick simple goals.

Players to blame

Time in forward half this quarter 82% Melb, 18% Ess. Result 1.3 us, 3.1 them!

I would not be surprised if we are the least efficient team in the AFL (or very close to it) at scoring from inside 50 entries and conversions at goal.

Spargo has kicked 2 this quarter

Thanks

if this stat does not tell us that the gameplan sucks what does

Spargo. Shining light. They have not had the chance to ‘coach’ him out of energised footy. Stay impulsive and aggressive young man.

This is a team bereft of confidence.

They are trying to operate under a structure and with a system that is complete rubbish.

We all know that the talent isn't this bad.

No wonder our skills and decision making is poor.

It’s obvious that they don’t believe in the coach and the game plan.

It seems when rookies come into our side they instinctively know where to be inside forward 50, then after a few weeks they become more and more indecisive and caught out of position. Is this a coaching issue whereby rather than allow instincts to dictate position the players are instructed to be somewhere which goes against their natural instinct?

Pathetic.

Me too.

Even if they did, it's so bad that it doesn't allow for the players to play well.

Dont worry Spirit This group will F5*K him right up only a matter of time

Yes that’s my point. We teach anxiety and indecisive footy. Run, entertain and attack attack.

In a perverted way I don't mind losing this one as in reality it means season over and then they might relax and try to play some decent football.... coach very much included

Well done Melksham!  Finally a target inside 50!

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
