Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Since 2005 we have played 1 home game against Essendon. Why is this? it is absolutely appalling. Another example of the stupid nature of the "Fixture". absolute corruption of the AFL

Why bother taking the warm up T-shirts off?

I thought we only have one away jumper now the royal blue and red jumper. I hope that's it.

What a condescending post and a BS argument. No one else has to give up 'blockbuster' games, nor should we.

In any case I'd be happy to give up playing Gold Coast at the G or Frem.

In addition to Essendon, since 2005 we have only had:

5 homes games against Carlton

7 v Richmond

5 v Geelong

And for example, Carlton haven't played at Geelong since 1997, Ess since 1993 and Coll since 1999.

No wonder teams have such different gate receipts from football. We are denied access to big games against large drawing Vic clubs and its wrong.

And BTW we rotate the ANZAC day Eve game with Richmond.

I clearly made that point by saying "when it's our turn".

In terms of the other points, if Geelong play Carlton/Essendon/Collingwood at "home" at Etihad or the MCG, Geelong get the dollars.  Why is it an issue with you if they haven't played those games at Geelong?

Also, we only play Gold Coast and Freo once this year.  The Freo one is our "home" game (in the NT).  I you give that game up, that becomes Freo's home game, meaning they have an extra home game than what they should.

There are definitely elements of the fixture that I don't like, but what your complaining about isn't one of them.  It's also one we have probably made for ourselves given our inept performance for such a long time, both in terms of playing ability and crowd pulling ability.

Seriously, pull ya head in, I'm not being negative nor am I mentally soft. Fact is whilst we play Anzac eve the AFL will fixture us against one of the teams that plays on Anzac Day. The Pies are out given QB, which leaves Essendon. Yes when it falls on a weekend it's a moot point, but when it's coming off a short break we'll play Essendon most likely at Docklands - which isn't a problem in my book.

In 2016, the Anzac Eve game was played on a Sunday.  We played St Kilda the following week.

Hardly "stuck with" playing Essendon because of it.  Which you kindly agreed with.  Thanks.

Since last year they've made the arrangement that Melb/Ess and Rich/Coll will play each other the week after. In 2016 the Anzac Eve game was on a Sunday night I believe so there wasn't the short break to work around.

Interestingly, someone posted on BF that next year ANZAC Day falls the Thurs after Easter. So we will have Thurs night footy, Good Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Easter Monday, break (Tues), ANZAC Eve, ANZAC Day, Friday night, etc This means that the only way around the shorter breaks (assuming they make Tuesday the day off between rounds) is for Melb/Ess & Rich/Coll to be on Saturday or for one of the games to be on Good Friday. Will be interesting to see how they schedule it.

bet you the boys and gals at AFL house have their spreadsheets out for that one Dr G.

I make that 7 prime time games all at night bar the Anzac day one .... you wouldn't want to be amongst the teams that miss out on the prime time shows.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
