As a 20year Redlegs Family Member I was very disappointed that the Club has sold off one of the Rooms that our membership level gets to use during our Home Games. We were informed last night that we will not have access to the Lindsay Hassett Room  for our biggest home Game against Collingwood on Queens Birthday, because PJ and his team have sold it to a sponsor.

The Premium Memberships are up 11% this year and one of the key benefits is the use of this Room which is the main area that we meet up, pay extra and have guests in for the big games like Queens Birthday. We will still have the use of the Jack Ryder Room which can only hold about 400.

We have five of our mates who all live in Regional Vic and Canberra(They are all country/interstate members) who come down for this game Every year and we use it as a great catch up day. Now this year there will be less guest passes and no room for us to meet in.

There is nothing on the web site or any communication from the club re this, yet they are still selling this level of membership and the benefits it can provide.

With our poor start to the year on the ground the club should be looking after all members and not short changing us. My Family membership at this level is substantial, plus the other support we give on game day and through other events that the club holds.

I ask all Premium members to email the club and voice their concern. There was some talk in the room last night of staging a protest outside the room ,which would be very embarrassing for all concerned at the club.

Looks like the club is putting sponsorship before membership. All of these managers are on bonuses bases on turn over. I have no problem with this as long as it is not at the cost of disenfranchising a very loyal and profitable membership level for the club.

Not only premium members, but ordinary members (and non member fans) are being totally dudded by yet  another year of pumped up optimism but zero delivery by this heartless club.

I wasn’t aware of that. If that’s correct that’s disgraceful. I too have been a redlegs member for many years and it’s the bigger games like these that the additional room is required! Typical Melbourne FC. I’ve emailed the club.

As a trident member, I was pizzed off that in the seat I pay squillions for I was surrounded by tigers nuftis.  Superior, idiotic, painful.  They spent their time taunting the Melbourne faithful, commenting loudly on us (rather than the game) and made my experience significantly worse than just watching the loss.

how is it that these [censored] eating sister [censored] [censored] faces get access to our seats?  If I wanted to sit with them, I would go to a Narc anon meeting.

can anyone fill me in on how this works?

Evidently, it would have been embarrassing for those involved in the protest, too.

Times change. The likes of PJ and Co are working hard to bring in revenue, because it's limited comparatively next to the big clubs. Small stuff like this makes a difference.

They need to work extra hard because the on-field performance doesn't do enough to consistently generate revenue for the club.

I think that considering we haven't played finals in 10 years and continuously struggle for sponsors, complaining about access to a fancy room before the game -- a room that has been sold off to sponsor for cash -- is pretty rich (excuse the pun).

Premium Membership prices have risen due to increased demand. This is not uncommon in literally any part of the world. There is a waitlist for these memberships, and so if you wish to keep this special access, you need to pay for it.

Maybe but surely that should have been clearly communicated to those members with an explanation prior to them purchasing their membership.

Although I am an MFC member, I elect to sit in the MCC as I pay for my membership. Whenever I look over to our MFC member section I am staggered that we seem to be surrounded by opposition fans. I also notice a lot of opposition fans sitting in our members area. How does this happen?

I think this club needs a kick up the #*%@, if you have paid up front for rooms and seats then yours to use on game day.

You should phone up and say since you have given away my room i have paid for then give me my money back or i will take legal action.

Same as you buck with your seats, let them know you should not be treated in this way.

I never thought i would be so #%**&! off at my own club, but they are in the wrong and should be told.

Poor reply Praha.

I for one will be emailing the club with a strongly worded email. When you buy the package (I'm a 10yr Redleg). They state access to both Ryder and Hassett Rooms, last night both rooms were chockers, so QB it will the same. This coupled with no reserved seating for replacement games and last weeks insult of paying an extra to access an area we can sit together. It's just adds insult to injury after we turn up week after week to support. Not F%$%king happy Jan

That is @praha opinion, so it is not poor or wrong,  I agee with it, the rooms are a benefit of a premium membership, benefits can change, and I am a Trident and don't care about the room, prefer the club makes money

Only intersested in my reserved seat for games and hopefully Grand Final guarantee

You must be the only one in the Trident area with a seat and atmosphere like that yesterday

So Saty, love your training reports but I think we are already being dudded by the way we are treated in the replacement games. My membership is for 11 "home" games, and I have sat simmering on the way are we treated in these quasi home games, this is just another instance of eroding my membership

I have emailed the club and will be very interested what reply (if any) I get, I have been measured and respectful. But I'm not very happy !!!!

PS I would be interested (respectively) if Praha is actually a premium member.

I'm a Gold AFL Member. If you think premium Melbourne clubs get screwed, you should check out the "prestige" facilities the peasants in the southern stand put up with for a premium price.  But eh, I get guaranteed access to watch the game I love.

You buy the membership you want to buy, nobody has a gun to the head

Going into those rooms before the game is a bit like being on here sometimes, whinge caro whiee etc etc, don't bother if I don't have other commitments

Nope, Saty.  Muppets because of their superior attitude and direct comment/ attack on the demon supporters around them.  Happy to have barracking for what is happening on the field, but the holier than thou attitude and continuous comment and sniping at Dees supporters for the whole game was too much.

no one has answered the question how they got there and ‘demanded’ those seats in the first place...

My email is on the way. As a 20 year Redlegs member I am disappointed and angry about this scant regard to the clubs membership base. Queens birthday is a marque day for Melbourne supporters and my family and mates have missed few of these occasions over the years and having a facility that I have paid for taken away is just wrong.

What annoys me more is the lack of communication to members of this decision. Good leadership at this club would ensure that all the premium members are notified by mail or email about  the change (not just the few that were in the room at the time of the announcement)and how the club will accomodate the needs of its members on matchday. Also does this mean that the value of memberships will be further devalued with further occasions of the loss of member facilities.

There is something wrong with a club that cannot deliver on its basic promoted services to its membership base.

I was going to upgrade to a Redlegs membership but won’t now if that’s the case.

The Red legs is awesome.  It’s only game that you can’t use 1 room.

No big deal.
