Out: Bugg, Harmes, Wagner, Lewis

No idea who comes in at this stage, our depth being good is a myth.

Bugg was diabolical.

Harmes has been completely ineffectual.

Wagner wasn't so bad later in the game but we need probably Frost to take one of Brown or Waite to free up Lever.

Lewis has become a liability.

Lewis second half was very good last week.

Wont argue he didn't have a great game tonight.

Agree someone like frost needs to come.in to free up Lever

Bugg couldn’t hit anything other than an opponent off the ball

Lewis has far too many brain fades - cost us big time last week.

I didn’t think Wagner was particularly bad.

(Won’t be dropped, but what exactly is Lever’s role?)

We won’t drop the VC Lewis but he wasn’t great. Looked like an old man being on the ground all night.

Bugg might need a week to get back into but didn’t inspire. With Kent firing again the pressure is on which is great.

I think Frost will come in for Wagner although Hunt needs a kick up the backside!!

Except for the one or two classy things he does a game, I really don’t share the love of Salem. Hardly noticed him. Very over rated imo.

Probably out Wagner for Frost for the talls.

Thin ice = Salem, Hunt, Bugg

I love it, Clint.  Drop 4 blokes after a win yet you have no idea who to bring in for them.  Clearly you've thought it through.

I can see possibly Frost getting a run, but the rest are probably okay.  Bugg offered more than Hannan, Lewis is no chance at this stage of being dropped and apart from one howler Wagner continues to build his confidence.

If anything, Salem and Hunt are on the shakier ground.  Hunt had just 6 touches while Salem, apart from a few good kicks forward, had little influence for the second week in a row.

I didn't see the Casey practice game, I've only seen the match report so hard to say with great confidence who deserves to come back in.

Our backline is all out of wack.

Hunt needs to be at half back where he can break the lines and run forward. Rotating 3 old fellas in that spot is not a winning play.

Lever needs a big body near him to free him up from the unprotected barage he has to cope with.

Bring in Frost for god's sake just tell him to lower his eyes when kicking.

Bugg is what he is. For those that forgot, tonight you were reminded.

Harmes has has no impact as many have said and Salo is not a mid. Maybe Gus comes in for one of them.

We have much to worry about with North.

The Casey practice game was against Frankston who are just  a scratch team this year. Nothing really can be read into that game.

If Kennedy plays well against Coburg next week and Bugg fails against Norf then I think you might be right in calling for  a change.

I'll be shocked if Bugg gets a second chance.

Frost in is a must for Ben Brown, maybe Kielty as a left field bolter. Wagner is the obvious casualty however the coaching staff clearly see something in him.

Lewis (and Vince) are not contributing what their role is meant to be - which is consistently great decisions and rarely make mistakes which compensates for lack of atheleticism. As the season progresses I think only one will be in the team but too early to drop one.

I’d drop Lewis if I had my way and bring in Frost and toy with Bugg out for whoever is in form - maybe Kent for the foot speed and ability to hit the scoreboard. What I would say for Bugg is he does run hard forward. He was often alone in the goal square as a goal sailed through but Harmes when pushing forward does the same and is more versatile than Bugg.

Don't change a winning team for no reason.

IN: Frost (team balance…Brown is a lanky beast and we need someone to go with him)
OUT: Wagner (two poor games in a row, plus he's a defender)

Our depth is actually quite bad. We can barely field an AFL-level best 22 with Viney and McDonald out.

In: Frost, Brayshaw

Out: Wagner, Bugg

Salem on thin ice. Hunt was good last week and has the points in the bank to stay in. Got to bring in Frost to take Waite, frees up Lever

Salem won’t be dropped. I was surprised at the lack of ball he had, but he was 2nd leading pressure acts in the game. He blocks rather than taking the ball. He’s fine.

Smashed in the middle really a young group who looked better with Hogan up around the contest last week .

With tmac out do we try Lever as an onballer who pushes fowrard for 5 mins a quarter .

Big Cam  could switch back

Try Frost over Wagner .

if Hunt isnt injured (I suspect he is ) get him moving on ball of half back or forward- no doubt teams are playing dee on a defender .

North defend well in the air we can counter that with some run deep In defence ourselves and ‘halve the contest’ Frost is our man. Lever loose in defence against the kangas could  work also

.Bugg needs time Hanann is another who could come in if someones sore - .

Go dees . in Goodwin we trust.

B: LEVER, O.MCDONALD, LEWIS

HB: HIBBERD, FROST, HUNT

C: PETRACCA, OLIVER, HARMES

HF: MELKSHAM, PEDERSEN, NEAL-BULLEN

F: GARLETT, HOGAN, FRITSCH

FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, JONES

IC: JETTA, BRAYSHAW, KENT, VINCE

IN: BRAYSHAW, FROST, KENT

OUT: SALEM, BUGG, WAGNER

Harmes is a headless chook.

Lewis is not a backman.

Bugg is horrible by foot.

Jetta is not half the player he was last season.

Aaah ... we actually won...save the wristslashing for later in the year...have a look at the results so far ...not too many supporters of any team would be “over the moon” ..the best part of our team is we will only get better ....so “cool your  jets “

A fit and firing Kent who

kicks on his opposite foot when required would be awesome .

Agree..north are being touted as some massive threat..did anyone watch their first half vs Saints. They were bloody awful. Saints barely beat lions the week before and if not for some key misses from Brisbane would have lost. I'd be bringing in Frost for Wags. That's it. Maybe Brayshaw..Lions were on the their home deck..got iffy frees in front of goal to score about 4 goals. We didn't play that bad. The conditions were slippery as f. Settle down.

Guys we haven’t won against North in 9 years.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
