And this should be a reflection of outsiders, wanting to come IN.

free agents we're waiting for you.

Please, wipe your feet at the door, and come in for a coffee & Smashed Avo' sandwich.

no, charcuterie and cheeseboard with artisan bread

but yep, we 100% should be in the market for a free agent

  • sloane
  • gaff
  • liberatore
  • dahlhaus
  • nick smith

in that order of preference

Yep has to be a quality runner first up.

Someone said Kelly, I don't know if can afford him. And for a loong term Kelly contract..

And similarly Lynch I'd love that Tall Forward 2nd ruck. But again can we really afford, & do we with need him now with Tmc doing his thing ?

I think now we need to add run/carry with skill, and pace.  Not in one player, but to start to install these attributes into our list, but without sacrificing any hardness, that we have rebuilt somewhat back into our jumper.

Great news for us.

I think it is now a perfect time for Tom Mac especially and also his brother to extend their contracts with us.

You know, when a young Champion in Clarry signs till the end of 2021 it just shows how much he loves the Club and his team mates around him. I have the greatest respect for the way he has conducted himself on and off the ground since his mishap.

He is a credit to his Family. You have made my day in fact my year and you will help my dream come true soon enough.

Great news. Now we’ve had Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Gawn and Lever all sign on for at least another 3 years. Massive for this clubs future development.

So much for this crap about the playing group being divided.

i wonder how much salary cap we have to play with?.. we might need to get rid of a player or two to afford sloane or one of the dogs? maybe t-mac or a combo of players (JKH, Stretch, Salem?)?

Jack Watts kicks some goals in a pre-season game - a gazillion posts within the day.

The player with probably the greatest potential I've seen in my time supporting the MFC signs on for a few more years after a basically unparalleled sophomore season at the club  -  a couple dozen minor congrats.

I'm afraid that Schwab and co. did some serious psychological damage to a large swathe of our supporter-base.

Stoked to hear this news but never really thought it was in doubt with the faith the club has shown in him since before draft night.

Petracca and Oliver have the goods to be around the club for the next 15 years.

If Hogan develops into a gun CHF dare I say they are three you can build a dynasty around.

We have not had those types of players for so long I cannot recall the last elite player we had.

At present it is all potential but they do give us oldies reason to dream.

As an aside I hope the MFC have taken multiple video examples of Ollie's handballing skills and had them cleared at AFL house.

Those calls last night worry me as it did others.

Easily the best news of 2018. ?

Well done, Clarry.

Another step up like last year and Oliver will be a genuine star of the competition. Consolidating his improvements from last year and helping us move to become a feared midfield team would be a start.

I reckon if he can add more damage to his outside game he could be anything.

Developing synergies with Petracca, Gawn, Viney and other midfielders over coming couple of years only bodes well.

Thanks for signing on young man!

What awesome news before the season starts. Done with a minimum of fuss too - 2 weeks from discussions starting to signing.

Well done, Clarrie....you have the support and gratitude of tens of thousands of Melbourne FC fans.

Absolutely the best news of the year for the Club. With Viney and Clarrie, we going to go far.

Clarrie's handballing has taken the game by storm - completely legal, completely innovative, completely perfect for a team on the rise, thanks to him. Let us sincerely hope that video examples of these skills are brought to the attention of umpires who so often get such calls absolutely wrong. Genius is often - for convenience - unrecognised.

Could be worse. I'm pleasantly surprised one of our whingers hasn't complained that he only signed on so quickly because our footy department doesn't know what it's doing and offered him too much money.

We're a strange bunch at Demonland, we would rather tear a kid apart, Weideman, because he hasn't become a star of the competition than recognise the talents and the loyalty shown by a kid the same age who has shown talent and maturity beyond his years. The news that he has re signed for a further 2 years is fantastic, we have, obviously, got a united and dedicated group of players all keen to remain with the club and win a flag for themselves and us supporters.

Good on you Clarrie, great to see you believe in the club. Thanks to the recruiters and the Coach for recognising the talent and character he has.

It is great news indeed and sets up the club for a period of stability for at least another two years.  Whilst it's clear that this core crop of really talentented players have bought into the present direction of the club, I think the need to re-sign them again in a few years will keep the pressure on the coaches and club to keep moving in the right direction.  By the time these guys are looking for their next contract, they will be pretty much in the prime of their career and worth considerably more at the negotiating table.  So it's really signing up for another 3 or 4 years in 2020 that will get me excited.  The really interesting stuff will be when these guys get to free agency status.

Still, the actions of the likes of Trac, Viney, Gawn and Oliver actually match their rhetoric of wanting to be one club players so far and I see it as a big positive that they are signing up before the season has started.  Makes for a very refeshing change from the way that $cully scum treated us.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
