But hes got hair.

Unless you dropped your Mintie on a shag carpet

So Ablett (if he plays which is likely) will come in with ZERO match practice. I know he’s the little master and everything but that has to limit him in some form

So we win by 5 goals instead of 7.

No biggie.

Assuming those "test" all make it, Henderson and Scott Selwood out is not bad, given Danger*, Ablett*, Crameri, and Cockatoo will be underdone re match fitness if they play.

* lack of match fitness may not slow these two.

If Danger plays he will play in the forward line. Injured or not he will be dangerous there.

Percentage of Dangerfield playing ?  Zero.

I think Ablett and Cockatoo play, assuming the latter plays for Geelong's VFL team as he's selected to.  So I see their outs as Dangerfield, Henderson, and Selwood, while Tom McDonald will probably join Viney on the sidelines for us.

What tactics will be used against Ablett and Dangerfield (if the latter plays)? Who will wear them and how do we bypass them so they run all day for no benefit, collapsing in a heap in the last quarter?

Any chance Lord Nev in his prime just completely shuts out 39yr old Ablett with no match practice? I'd back him in. His determination out weighs Gaj's ability

Weideman to kick more goals than Hogan in first game this year together.........

Current odds dees $1.90 cats $1.90

cats supporters on big footy are almost convinced danger will play

If Dangerfield plays, the more chances he has of breaking down, mid-game. So, bring him on for a Pedo bump or two.

Cocky played for Cats VFL team but won't play, as they won't take multiple players in without sufficient match practice. Agree Gary looks set to play. Hopefully Tom Mac gets up and he has a good fitness base.

Mind games or not the Cats seem primed for round 1:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-03-17/gaz-training-his-way-into-round-one-certainty

"Ablett's extended two-hour session has him primed for the season opener – a fixture he has averaged 33 disposals per match in over the past six seasons..."I think his standard preparation for AFL seasons has been no practice matches and dominate round one so hopefully that continues."

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-03-16/cocky-wants-a-callup-star-cat-cockatoo-shines-in-vfl

Nakia Cockatoo has put his hand up for round one after an explosive performance in Friday night's VFL practice.  The 21-year-old kicked two goals and picked up 15 disposals, looking a cut above rotating between midfield and attack in a statement he's ready for Melbourne at the MCG in nine days' time.

Given our players who didn't get a run at Casey yesterday because of 'niggles' (Lewis, ANB, Jones, Oliver, TMac) and those who have their first run today (Garlett, Jetta and a few others) we will be as underdone (re match practice) as Geelong will be.

A 50/50 game.

I hope Danger and Ablett play. Run them hard and watch them break down. That leaves only 2 onthe bench.

They want to play, they better be ready....

Something very logical about that and the likelihood of such breakdowns. I'd reckon that playing them both would be great by half time. Geelong are going to need superfit youth to get past the Demons. I cannot imagine that their players are fit enough or have the sustained endurance to keep up with the game, break free to set up plays or rebound as the Cats used to do. With our backline, I doubt if their delivery will be fully effective. I could be wrong but another 12months have passed.

Danger won't play. Spoke to snr Geelong person today. Said they would be mad to play him if there was the smallest chance he does it badly and misses 6.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
