A very long time ago possibly zillions of years, I watch two pre-season match. The Dees beat the reigning premiers and runner up,so I backed them (the dees) for wooden spoon at 16-1.The best payday of my life. Backing the Dees when favs. to lose against some sh.t sides has resulted in an has caused my wallet to explode.

Not related, butcat a party, some idiot pushed me into a pool fully dressed. My friends bashed him severely.

Not really me, but at a bar after a game this old guy came up to me and gave me 5 bucks. Said “since you’re a demon supporter, sweetie, go get a drink to celebrate.” Didn’t appreciate being called ‘sweetie’, but was more than happy to take the guys money. It pays to wear your gear with pride!

I worked in a very large international law firm in London in 2004 and 2005. The hours were immense. Yet ...

For the whole of 2004, I had my parents record every game throughout the season, air courier the VHS cassette to me at a cost of 70 bucks a game, and I’d then pick up the VHS cassette from the mail room every Thursday evening (in respect of the game recorded the weekend just gone), go home, and start watching the game ‘live’ at about 10.00pm each Thursday night. Relevantly, I filtered my email messages during the week so I didn’t ever know the result prior to watching the game.

We had a good year that year. It was worth it.

Cost me a fair bit of dough though.

Pretty sure they had the internet in 2004.

But I suppose I would have struggled to explain to my parents how to rip a DVDR and upload it too. Might have been worth the $70 per game in shipping just to avoid having to walk them through it.

Actually now that I think about it, I KNOW they would have stuffed it up.

98  grand  final  is one of my  favourites as  north  got  belted. I  think it  was  in the  3rd  quarter and after  drinking heavily  all day with a few north supporting mates .  i might have  told the  security   guards they were  useless campaigners and  i  got  booted out.    Would do  again if the  dees  managed to  make and  win a  GF.

In a way it was sad for me. Somehow I know deep in my heart if we beat North in the pre, we would have beaten Adelaide. I just know it.

A long, looong time ago (only the oldies will remember these times), when you could take almost anything you wanted into the MCG, a few Melbourne mates and I found ourselves sitting behind a large group of Geelong supporters, many of whom were equipped with large navy and white floggers, and bells that were so big that you needed two hands to ring them.  The game was a close one, and some not so friendly rivalry developed between the Cats fans and us Dees.  Every time that Geelong scored a goal, we had to put up with floggers being waved in our faces, and the clanging of these enormous bells in our ears.  As you can imagine, this became very tiresome as they continued to score and keep pace with the Dees, who were close to invincible way back then.  Anyway, after yet another Geelong goal, it got the better of me, and I told the old biddy in front of me to take her so-and-so cow bell back to the paddocks around Kardinia Park where she belonged.  Next minute she and her even older female companion were belting me around the ears with their blue and white umbrellas.  It seemed like a harmless 'footy' comment at the time, but it did teach me to keep my mouth shut, rather than engage with passionate supporters of rival clubs (especially when I'm outnumbered).

IIRC, the Dees ended up winning, so I had the last laugh.

Times must have changed @Deeoldfart Despite the local Murdoch rag being a glorified Puddies supporters magazine (Hawkey called the Geelong Addy the worst paper in Australia for a reason), I had one of my best experiences with an opposition supporter down at Geelong in  2015. It's the only time an opposition supporter has generously said well done after we knocked their team off.

@demonstone and @Cassiew My view of Collingwood supporters is pretty well documented on here. I come from a family of them and despite Fat Ed's ego, I have no problem with their supporters. I remember going to Lexus with my brother once and found that I had more in common with a lot of the Pies supporters than a lot of the upper class nonces that I've met supporting Melbourne.

As I've said, Essendon supporters are the biggest peanuts in the AFL (with Hawthorn gaining on the rapidly). Some of the blokes who went to Windy Hill back in the day could tell you that Victoria Park was almost like the Savage Club in comparison.

Back on topic, probably not crazy per se but the group I started on Facebook to ban the bugler was probably my most left of center moment (aka ridiculously immature) as a supporter. I think we got 30 members in  total (mostly the weirdos who lurk on here).

SBF, did the same thing at Adelaide Oval last year - what a rush! Crows supporters went nutz every moment didn't they? I have never seen the Dees so assured of handling another side with ease. That was the match when Melksham hit his straps for the first time - playing games with the Crows players. I remember in the 90’s it was all the rage for Adelaide supporters to spit on opposition supporters and players who attended their home ground. I see we’re playing the Crows at TIO this year during the peak of flu season. I might attend this one and return the favour.

Loaned my 74-year-old father my video camera a couple of years ago to take on a cruise he was going on with my mother. I spent hours very patiently going through, step by step how to turn it on, press record, film interesting stuff, then press the same button to stop recording. So he only had 2 buttons to worry about.... one to power up and another (right where his thumb rested) to start and stop recording. Made him go through the process several different time over a week to make sure he had it figured out.

FOOLPROOF.

He comes home and i download almost 100 clips.

Each and every single one lasting 7 seconds and showing nothing at all but his feet.

Old people are stupid.

In all fairness, being female opposition supporters are pretty bad no matter what club. If I call out something, there’s always some male fan that feels he has to imitate it in the worst female voice possible. The amount of times I’ve been called a ‘b-tch’ is countless.

Victoria Park was shocking. Even as a little girl, I was told by grown men to ‘shut up’ because I wasn’t a Collingwood supporter. I even once had a drunk Collingwood supporter ask me to “show my t-ts” when I was 14.

I didn't mind Vicious Park. The half forward flank at the Yarra Falls end was a good spot to watch footy from. The crowd could be a bit feral (I got king hit by an irate Collingwood skinhead after we handed them their first wooden spoon) but it was a helluva lot better than Windy Hill. You're right about the dunnies though - the plumbing couldn't cope with the volume. You'd need gum boots to safely go for a slash.
