Exactly. These clash jumpers are a pathetic joke.

Could not give a toss what colour or clash jumpers are. Its just such a non-issue.

I care more how we play the game, how many wins we will have and if we are going to make the finals.

Sorry cannot stand this stupid response.  In what way is caring about the jumper we wear in conflict with us winning games or not?  It's not like it's a mutually exclusive propersition.

I can thint of a lot of things I care less about posted on Demonland  (like Ty Vickory) and this time of year, few more that I care about than seeing our club properly address this issue.  I mean obviously there is the draft, but until it happens, it's like throwing darts at a dart board.  And even then, until those players that are drafted actually produce on the feild, it's more an act of navel gazing for us mere supporters.  And it's not like directing some of the club's management staff to take this issue up with the AFL and get an appropriate outcome is distracting our playing group, coaching or recruiting staff.  Getting a good outcome for our footy club could also help to recruit and retain more members.

Beyond all, when our team wins, I want to see it happen in a jumper that actually looks like our teams, not some crappy half baked version that looks more  like a Sydney jumper than a Melbourne one.

I don't know why we can't have a predominantly red strip as our clash strip.

AFL told us years ago red is a "dark" colour and we need a jumper with predominantly "light" colour. However Essendons clash jumper is an inverted version of their normal jumper so not sure why ours couldn't be the same.

I agree with you - its a non-issue for me its a clash jumper. Now I dont think the views shared by Rodney are stupid - if its that important to him, knock yourself out, go for it and Good luck.

Thanks Morgan - us Demons supporters could use all the luck we can get.

How anyone can be apathetic about what jumper and colours your team wears is beyond me.

Players come and go, but the glue that knits generations of fans together is the jumper and colours.

One can try and place themselves above such menial matters in an attempt to seem more enlightened, but you've just taken a position that is at odds with footy, reason, and passion.

Naturally, fans put up with it, as there's little choice, but how anyone couldn't care or could even embrace a clash jumper beggars belief.  I assume such supporters wouldn't give a yelp if the club decided to push for a permanent change to green and aqua.

I find the position disingenuous.

When coaches and clubs start jumping up and down that there are jumper clashes and it could cost someone a flag!!! then I will believe it is an issue.

Until then it just the typical AFL bullsh!t inconsistency and making it up on the run.

The last time I heard clubs grumbling was when the AFL themselves engineered a clash between us and the umpires!

Totally Old Dee.

From 2007 to 2017, we lost more games than I care to think of and wore a plethera of putrid white/grey jumpers.  We should consign both acts to the annals of history.

Neither do I, but I really don't care. As long as we return to being a successful football club, the type of jumper we wear means little IMO. It doesn't bother the Manchester Uniteds or Liverpools of the sporting world and it shouldn't concern us. That is 21st century sport. Jog on.

I'm thinking that AFLHQ are softening on the issue - or at least wishing to be less pedantic and illogical in their application of the rules (I find it hard to believe that an idea akin to our red-back clash of 2017 was never floated before - but rather that it's just now been accepted). However, any attempts at logical discretion on their behalf will no doubt be accompanied by further cries of bias and corruption.

I might add RG we not only lost them we were trashed in the majority. I went to many that the only thing  up for decision was the size of the loss many many games were well over at quarter time.

I hate that time more than any other in the last 54 years and there have been some poor ones in that time.

Just win bloody  games

The clash jumper/ alternative jumper is more of a marketing opportunity - some you will win some you will lose, before the event you will never know after the event depends on the results. Take this years grand final - classic example. Its just such a non-issue.

this thread is about (predominately) white clash jumpers. the richmond gf clash jumper was just the home jumper in reverse (no white)

most opponents here of the clash jumper have basically 2 issues

1. no white clash jumper

2. no clash jumper in games when there is no real need for one

You totally missed the point - before the event some people will find something to complain about ie this years grand final

1&2 are both just opinions. clash jumpers are just marketing events, some you will win some you lose, you can never please all of the people all of the time.

But I'm tipping if we go undefeated in our clash jumper this year - watch sales start to soar irrespective of your opinion irrespective of the colours involved. Its just such a non-issue.

You focus on the colours of our jumpers - i will focus on the results of our games, then the clash jumper will resolve itself.

The colours of our jumper represent the club, both history and now.

You don’t care about that. Most of us do

Not a problem, I"m glad you and others care. As I said earlier, if its important to you, knock yourself out, good luck.

I think rainbow would be a festive look

We don’t clash with anyone however the white makes us clash with St Kilda.

Why do we need an away jumper?

In the old days it was black and white shorts (and those were the days when a mud patch in the centre and in front of goals ensured both teams had black shorts at the end)!

These days there is no such problem (plus we have red socks as well)!

If the clash strip was an actual problem, i might understand the idea. But it only exists for certain clubs...

other times the clash strips make it even harder to distinguish clubs

lol, davey. that's what supporters do. we continually knock ourselves out :P

Are you serious?

That would mean the AFL treating MFC and EFC in an even handed manner, like alternating home games and not having one club monopolizing for a decade.

Black shorts and white shorts are all you need!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
