Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the rookies are wrong. Maynard is now a category a rookie so he replaces White and J.Smith was a category b rookie so no one can replace him. I don't think we will have any picks in the rookie draft.

Yeah he missed the goal in the TAC Cup grand final but he can play.  Is the modern mobile ruck, is super athletic, can tackle, carry the footy and take a mark.

Will take some time but has a lot of upside.

That write-up sounds promising. He's listed there as 195cm though, is he still growing? The modern ruckman needs to be 200cm to be effective, but as a back-up option there's something to work with.

While it was a day he would rather forget, Joel Amartey was probably the most dominant big man on the ground on Sunday night. Took a number of leaping marks around the ground, his most memorable being the fantastic pack mark that gave him that fateful kick after the siren. However, his fantastic snap goal in the second quarter was arguably more impressive, showing brilliant athleticism for a player of his size. Amartey dominated the hit-outs with his trampoline leap, finishing with 27 hit-outs, including plenty of thumps to Sandy’s advantage.

I felt the Weagles overrated their list this year.  They gave impression that they were in the window and recruited accordingly, and were exposed in their capitulation to GWS (and to a certain degree over the course of the season).

Sounds like they are very much in danger of making the same mistake again.  Staggered that they traded away their 2018 first rounder for a swag of 2^nd round picks this year.  For a chance to pick up WA talent around the mark no less. @Pennant St Dee, any thoughts on who they might be looking at in that range?

Oscar Allen should go a bit higher than that, same with Naughton.  Maybe Jake Patmore & Liam Ryan?

Funny with some of those names you mentioned Chaser. Was talking to a few of my Meth Coast supportingmates over a beer last night and I said to them about there being a core group of good WA boys this year. Not stars but good footballers with strong work ethic which could work out well long term. I think they wont take Naughton with their first rounder their defence isn't really an issue outside of struggling with pace and at ground level which he doesn't really help.

They really need a lot of work through their midfield with a long standing lack of pace and now with Priddis and Mitchell gone they are going to need some help on the inside. They also seriously lack depth through the middle.

Another long term issue has been a small hard working forward with some nouse

I think their 1st pick at 13 and their second at around 20 if one is still available will be used to shore up those issues

The three players I think they would target are all Vic boys in Andrew  Brayshaw, Jack Higgins and maybe Jayden Stephenson.

I believe they will take whichever of those boys is available and I expect they'll all be gone by their second pick

From there I believe they will target the WA boys in

Oscar Allen - really like this kid and one of our boys from the Northern suburbs hard worker and smart footballer who is capable of building a tank and turning into a big midfielder.

Brandon Starcevich - solid hard working good size player who will work his arse off to get the best out of himself can play mid

Jake Patmore - another hard worker and big time accumulator. Jake is a standout at colts and good ball user

Sam Taylor - cheaper in terms of pick required than Naughton and like Barrass they will play the older citizen (McKenzie) and allow the kid to take time to develop in the WAFL

Brayden Ainsworth - country kid who moved to Perth late to get serious and has flourished. Another mid but just something about this kid who knows how to find and use the ball. This kid is a footballer 

Liam Baker- overlooked last season but been really good at Subiaco this year. May go as a rookie but good smart footballer and unlike Cripps and Hill he can run through the middle

A big yes. Watched his games and has that X factor. Will adjust without doubt. Think wce will be chasing him but could sneak through.

In that clip his kicking looks ordinary. It included one sliding off the side of the boot as a set shot, one out on the full along the boundary and another finger breaker down the line out of the backline. It looks like he's got an ordinary kicking action, hard to see how he's going to make it at AFL level kicking like that.

Just based on those figures, he will snap in a slight breeze. Needs about 20 kg more.

I love it how recruiters have full time jobs where they spend pouring over hours and hours of vision, looking at a draftees under 16 form, under 18 form, they interview them, they have psychologists providing feedback, they analyse their values/morals through a series of interviews, they analyse trends in their physical conditioning and find out as much as possible from external sources such as school teachers/sports coaches etc in order to make informed decisions and here we have demonlanders just jumping on youtube or reading a little player profile and thinking 'oh we must go for this guy or we must go for that guy'. Unless you've done recruiting work, I don't wanna hear about it.

Any info posted by fellow demonlanders on the TAC cup and the youngsters hoping for an AFL career is greatly appreciated for people like myself that aren't familiar with the system.

There is a simple solution for you though if you don't want to read about it.

Liam Ryan I'm guessing will be this year's Nakia. More precisely: not this year's Nakia, but the 'Nakia' of Nakia's draft year. That is to say, he will go pretty early. Nakia.

I don't understand why the club doesn't retain Corey Maynard as a Category B rookie for another year to enable it to have room if required for a pick in the rookie draft?

How do you know that Demonlanders haven't watched some of these kids for years in local comps?  Or even coached some of them or coached against them?
