I have a huge soft spot for Col personally, so I'm glad the club has found him a suitable role. His journey from kid in Tassie who nearly had to give up footy because he couldn't get a lift to training, to the handy, gutsy defender he was during the Bailey era, to almost the posterboy for the down trodden during the Neeld era - it's been quite the ride. At his best he was quick, desperate, always put his body on the line and could play on tall or small.

All the best Col, hopefully this is the start of great things.

I take my hat off to this bloke, the way he conducted himself on and off the footy feild. A more loyal a servant the MFC will not find.  For a few years there in the middle he was a pretty handy defender.

Sad end for Col. He had some good years, a couple of particularly good years in combo with Chip. But we’ll done to him for seeing the writing on the wall. With Lever coming to the club there was no chance of him finding a place back in the team.

Played through some the really dark times and always spoke with such loyality about the team. On his day was a top player. Im glad we've kept him on in some capacity. All the best for your new chapter Col.

Wouldn't be surprised if he makes it as a brilliant coach. His attention to detail is the best I have ever seen. It is just a matter of whether he has the people skills.

A great clubman and bloke.

He was thrown into AFL too early - a familiar refrain of the past at the Dees - but he become a very good defender with neat skills, courage, and a brilliant reader of the play. 

His last act is one of sacrifice for his beloved Demons.

Another who went through the crucible of those 2008-2013 years with us - for those that went through it - I am starting to realise it makes you a 'burnt on' Demon.

Will write a book about the club one day.

This one really hits home as a changing of the guard. Trengove, Watts, Spencer (to a lesser extent), and now Judy. Hopefully the next chapter is a lot brighter.

Another back patter gone, had speed but only used it every second game, when he used his speed he was unstoppable,  if only he had the intensity of David neitz he might have been a great.

He was correct.

He was not correct neitz only played 150 at fullforward, he played a lot of footy at CHB, he would of kick twice as many goals if he played in the dunstal era much more open forward line then, he started in the back then he only played full forward between 2002 to 2007. 

The man who inspired my handle, and the master of the half baked/just have gotten out of bed look.

I have to give him full marks for loyalty. Never entertained leaving and actually was hurting during the fiasco of 2012/2013.

In some ways, I reckon Col was the type of player Roosy was referring to scarring. I don’t really blame him for doing so but I often saw him as one of the blokes who were the first to drop their heads when the opposition got a run on. I specifically remember Herry L having to drag him off the ground vs. Collingwood (?) on QB 2015 cos they had gotten a run on.

As I said a long time ago, the 2008/13 draft cohort were a lost cause well before this year (and a lot of it wasn’t their fault).

Nonetheless, he has played more than the zero games I have so my hat goes off to him.

"All up, an unfortunate pre-season accident led to a need to try new things, and now, Garland – who will also attempt to play for the Casey Demons in 2018 if his knee holds up – is pretty happy with how it's panned out."

Would be good to see Col run out for Casey next year
