I'm usually right up with the TAC Cup but not do much this year due to other commitments but that competition entered its finals phase this weekend.

The best source of information on the web is AFL Draft Central which has some great scouting notes and previews here, here, here and here.

The TAC Cup website also previews the games here.

As always my support is for the Sandringham Dragons who won last year's flag and provided a raft of draft picks. This year, there are some MFC family connections at the club with brothers Hamish and Andrew Brayshaw and Seb Williams, grandson of Demon premiership great Don Williams.

Had a close look at the Brayshaw boys today and they did not disappoint. When the Bushrangers looked like they were going to charge through in the second, Andrew and Hamish were brought into the middle with Max King and Charlie Constable and the 4 of them just dominated and I think it was 6 or 7 unanswered goals. Just brutal around the stoppages.

I thought that Hamish's endurance was an issue as the game wore on. Considering that Andrew (and Angus) can run for a long period of time, I thought it was odd that Hamish wasn't as strong in this area. Both really good decision makers, Andrew just gets into great positions, really good disposal. Can see why he is firming around that 10-20 mark.

Hamish is interesting. Only 2 clubs wanted to see him at the draft combine (heard it was the Dees and the Saints but wasn't overly sold on the source). He's had a couple of blinders the last few weeks, today was very important when the game was there to be won. What was noticeable was that his teammates just looked for him. There were a couple of times where I couldn't understand why they'd kick it to him on a 2 on 1, but he'd either mark it or halve the contest and someone would help him mop up the ball. Was very impressed and would like to see him at the Dees next year as he has a tremendous upside.

And it's a ripper at three quarter time with the Dragons leading by 11 points.

I would be happy if the club could add A Brayshaw and Seb Williams to its midfield mix, the latter would probably only cost a rookie draft selection.

Williams and Brayshaw (Hamish) look to have sealed a second consecutive GF berth for Sandy.

Ben King looks an absolute beauty at CHB for Sandy. Looks like a top 5 prospect for '18 draft.

Ben and Max King would go top 5 this year. Scary what they are going to do next year.

A. Brayshaw really looking like a top 10 pick now.

Lou Richards grandson. Wonder if there is pressure at the pies to take him early. Hope so. He's not expected to go at 6 or 7 or whatever their first pick is. Love to see a bit of Collingwood premature speculation.

Bit like our Collingwood premature ejactulation with the Weid !

Going down Sunday to support one of our local kids who I coached for a couple years Connor Idun who is a bottom age player with the Falcons.

I know  quite a lot of the Falcons kids having coached against them in the local league.

Should be able to provide a report.

Poor kid - it happens to a lot of people. Not the right time or place for him though given it was in a televised grand final and the team's entire season hinged on it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
