It's sad when the meaning of english words get expanded and twisted to fit whatever the latest liberalist agenda of the day is

gaff is not a victim. he is a protagonist just having to deal with the consequences of his unsocial and stupid actions

next we will call criminals the victims because they have to do a stretch in the big house

When i was at Uni one day, one of the teachers told a story of this guy breaking into a house; well there to meet this would be slime #(&^$ was the pet dog who soon turned him into a chew toy.

The a## hole whilst in prison, sued to the homeowner to get the dog put down because he was injured and suffering.

Now at this point i said WHAT? the teacher gave me this look and a half, he won his case to have the poor animal put down.

So if your dog goes to protect you and your home, he/she should stay eating their bone in the corner, whilst you getย ย the c&%^

taking out of you.

They canย both be victims. Brayshaw is a victim of the physical impact while Gaff may be a psychological victim from feeling guilty. The fact that Gaff made the violent contact does not stop him from being a victim albeit one that was self-imposed.

Sorry DC, you need to look up the meaning of protagonist.ย

Gaff is a perpetrator and by extensionย  most definitely not a victim.

oops sorry... you're correct dw. i meant to say perpetrator. put it down to a senior brain fart

I reckon we should be into Andrew Brayshaw all year, just like Dockers have done with JH.

Surely Andrew would feel the pull of family and wanting to play at MFC with Gus.

Bad luck if we destabilize the Dockers.ย

I said he was a victim who inflicted it upon himself. I didn't say anyoneย had to feel sorry for him.

bad choice of wordย  (victim) then. "suffering the consequences of his actions" would be more appropriate

He is not a victim at all. He instigated the action, soley 100% himself

the Victim has a smashed jaw and dead teeth ?ย

i must be old school, but i donโ€™t feel sorry for Gaff at all. I saw the incident live and could not believe it. Assault is what i call it.ย

absolutely, even moreso if they have a poor year and don't look like improving.

Well if you saw it you would know that Gaff tried to hit him in the chest. Not excusing it,ย but it is probably helpful to state facts. You have like myself probably seen the incident replayed many times and would have seen Brayshaw lower slightly, meaning at the time the punch connected,ย his head was at the position his chest was just before. Look at Gaffโ€™s arm and fist at contact ย

Given that and Gaffs history and comments after, it is open to believe that Gaff never intended to hit him in the mouth.

I donโ€™t think he intended what happened,ย but it is what it is.

He deserved hi penalty.

No, Gaff was not aiming for the chest.ย

I donโ€™t buy that.ย

That is your opinion Red, but not mine

He lined him up, connected and then kept running....

I saw a low uppercut, so i have never thought the chest was the intended target.ย

It just sounds less evil

Sorry for the delay I just worked out how to do it.

Anyway both players are about the same height and you can see Brayshaw lowerย his height as the punch came. It clearly altered the target.

Look where Gaff's fist would have struck if Brayshaw was standing up.

If that is an uppercut it has come from a long way down.

To me he wanted to hit him in the chest or even lower towards the gut.

But did you actually? I can't see anything.

Is that what we should pop your alarmist politics down to as well? Old age?

Left of Stalin. What rubbish.

The Age lost its way a while ago, but mostly because of who sat on its board and made the decisions.

As for the topic, Gaffย hit Brayshawย and should cop the penalty.

If we're talking politically left, I'd say the sentiments around the Gaff hitย were that violent actions on the field should perhaps be dealt with in a similar manner to violent acts off the field. I can see the thinking, but I'm not for it as it's a contact [censored] sport.

Considering old man Brayshaw confirmed it himself, you should probably look to climb down off that high horse.

alarmist politics, left of stalin?............are you confusing me with another poster perchance?

ย

Didn't watch any Freo games this year aside from our game. What kind of player is Brayshaw? Or will become?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
