I really dont think StKilda will win today.....their fairytale will end in 20mins. They are WCs bunnies.

Jack Billings thinks otherwise. Was it better for us if St Kilda won? I can't bring myself to look at the ladder.

Saints have everything to play for next week. We just want the season to finish. Will get messy next week. They showed heart today. We have none

Why? This is perfect for us, we now have more control over our finals aspirations than if West Coast were to win.

Because right now, Saints with everything to play for trumps our everything to play for.

How often in important games do we come out on top? Hope to break the trend but recent history suggests....  ?

Good resuly! Happy for the winner of next week to have a strong chance of making the 8. Maybe thats me having a stk family member showing. But its far better that 1 of these clubs gets a shot above boring wce, ess and dogs.

Its round 1 all over again. Beating st k wasnt the end of our rivalry. Stk deserve a rematch against us and we deserve to show r1 wasnt a fluke. Any fan of great footy sees better potential for a great elimination final football game now, with the saints in contention.

Great result for us.

Out of the eight by 2.5% now.  The alternative was a whole game and %.

Just doing the ladder predictor again... If we win all 3, then it comes down to 1 game...

Ess vs Crows - Essendon has to lose.

The alternative, Melbourne has to thump the Lions by 10 goals.

Happy with St kilda winning, if we can't beat them next week we don't deserve finals and we have just as much incentive to win as they do.

I didnt see the Saints game, but I saw in the match report Steven was injured and Dunstan was reported... will they both be outs next week?

If we don't turn up next week all hell will break loose... and our club will lose so much credibility.

Steven dominated in the last qtr with like 11 or 12 disposals. He's fine, unfortunately.

We'll need someone to thump Eric Hipwood to do that. Our last regular season Tall KPF Giraffe to have to deal with.

Dang.

This is the lay of the land for spots 7 and 8:

  • WBD - have the toughest run home and could drop all 3 and have the worst %.  But they are in top form.
  • Ess - should win at least 2.
  • WCE - have 2 games vs top 2 teams
  • MFC - theoretically, we are best placed to win all three games.
  • StK - will fancy themselves to win at least 2.

For our 3 games all 3 teams will fancy themselves.  Even Lions are saying they are ready to take a 'big scalp'.  Given they play GCS, Dees and NM, we are the 'big scalp' they are setting themselves for.

I can't pick who will win what but:

  • the only time in years we have won 3 in a row was after the 2017 bye - a 13 day break.  In fact we haven't won 2 in a row since that bye.
  • our team is as a flat as a tack and many players are out of form
  • our game plan is not working and coaches also seem out of form
  • we don't seem to have the hunger.

While we should win all 3, sadly there is little to suggest we will.

Can someone please tell me how to delete a post.  The 'option' button no longer appears...

Richmond will go to 3rd if they hold on here.

The Cats are a real chance of falling out of the top 4 over the next few weeks.  Wouldn't that be great?  Out in the first week of finals after thinking they were premiers all season.

They'll go First next week, if they hold on and Win next week and results fall their way.

Adding to that, Joel Selwood is out for the rest of the home and away season.

They play Richmond, GWS and Collingwood.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
