Training -  Thursday 20th July, 2017

Featured Replies

Date: Thursday 20th July

Time: 9.45am

Location: Goschs Paddock

Tests for Viney, Watts, Salem and Tyson...  and Jonesy only 1-2 weeks away, possibly joining in the full session.

Most important training session of the season, for sure.  Hopefully we have some eyes on the ground with updates and that all those 'tests' can get through and face Port.

I'll be there, should be an interesting morning.  McQueen, I think you're one Misson report behind - the lastest one has Salem being right to play if he gets through tomorrow's test.

Its suddenly not looking that bad injury wise all of a sudden! Its been feeling like the roof was about to collapse lately.....

Wonder if any of the boys in town for the RAP launch might pop in to have a look as well?

We will know more in the next hour or two

Sam McClure reported that Trenners will be in this week.  Seems like he maybe playing Vinces role

Does he make this stuff up? Watts, Tyson, potentially Viney and Salem ins, and he's adding Trengove as well? I'd be shocked and amazed if true.

The guys from The Dee Brief were there filming live to Facebook.

They said Viney was not training with the main group so unlikely he will play.

They are saying he is doing some testing to the side, so there might be some hope

Seems to conflict with this info.

Has he tweeted this or was this on SEN this morning?

Jack Viney is so tough he eats coal and sh!ts diamonds.

Just back from training.  Viney did extensive testing with Crossy and then joined the main group and looked fine.  I'd be amazed if he didn't play.  Watts, Tyson and Salem with the main group from the start.

Word was that Garlett won't play.  He wasn't at training today.  It's speculation only.

We were asked to leave today (which I did).  First time that has happened.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened whilst I was there, usual drills - agility, ball handling and movement inside 50.

Just back from training.  Salient points:

- Viney did a series of run throughs with the fitness staff, initally in track shoes and then changes to his trusted Puma boots (with orthopedic inserts.  He then joined in main training and participated fully.  Didn't look to be restricted.

- Salem, Watts and Tyson all participated fully and didn't show any signs of being hindered

- Jones participated fully from the start but I didn't see him kick with his right leg (not to say he didn't, but I didn't observe it)

- Bugg is back from time away from the club and participated in training (as did Vince)

- Brayshaw has seemingly adopted the head protection gear and looks set to resume

- no sign of Kent, Van den Berg, Garland or McKenna.  Filipovic was doing ruck skillwork with Daniel Cross and Gref Stafford

The main training session saw an intense focus on contested work.

Garlett has returned to W.A for family reasons, reported on news last night. Doubt about his availability this round

I heard he went straight to WA from Darwin.

Lets hope with the ins it gives the tired boys a lift seeing the guns back. A fresh start with two must win games ahead & a focus back on our corralling and pressure will see us win.

Any word on Kent's injury? Is he having surgery?

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season.
