AFL Evolution Game

All paid for and waiting til Friday to pick up :)

With the history of AFL games, this could well be rubbish.... but I'm happy to be proved wrong though...

On a related note, I've recently played FIFA 17 and I love the addition of the Journey story mode where you play as a young kid who has to work his way into the starting 11 of an EPL team. I reckon it's been done really well. I guess thats what you get from a company with so much experience like EA...

Id like to play it cos its an AFL game, but they have all been so terrible in the past.

It just seems like a sport thats impossible to capture well in video game format.

The apprentice at work was just telling me today that his girlfriend's dad owns the company that's developing the game.

I'm only a 20 minute drive from Fountain Gate so I might go check it out.

I'm not excited because they all suck. But I'll definitely waste my money on it.

Id be shocked if the gameplay didnt suck, but the game can be salvaged if they have a good simulation/career mode thing.

Kind of like those soccer manager games that do big business.

At least we can play this one online. So even if it's [censored], it'll be fun beating mates at a [censored] game.

I'll wait for the reviews on this one.  If it's at least decent then I'll get it.  If it's a train wreck then I'll steer well clear.

AFL99 on PS1 is still the best footy game to date.

Aussie Rule Footy on NES was my favourite. And Duck Hunt.

I think you were proven wrong in 1991.

Out of bounds. On the full.

Those were the days, Aussie Rules Footy on NES, Wagon Wheels and Cheezels.

The game will never be any good because no company will pour money into something so niché to make it any good. It wouldn't sell a copy outside Aus.

Having said that, I do have fond memories of AFL 99 on PS1 where it was basically a matter of who could avoid holding the ball the most for the entirety of the match. No matter where or when you picked up the ball, you'd always be kamikaze-tackled by a player.

And if you were Adelaide just give the ball to Darren Jarman and he'd slot them from anywhere 50 out on the run

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
