Coat tails of the final tilt mate...

Their zone and midfield pressure stifled the supply to Kennedy that day. Frawley was a good player though.

Hodge was " admirable " today, we were reminded by the commentators in the final quarter. Within 10 seconds, he had kicked into the man on the mark and handballed the ball straight to a Geelong player. He has been a champion but he's gone now. There are too many holes in the Hawthorn team now, not being filled by the likes of Hartung,Sicily, Langford or Vickery. Is it too much to hope for the Weagles to deliver another 86 point thumping to the beleaguered Hawks  next week??? We can only hope !!!!

Geeze.. there's being bitter and the there's just being pathetic.. The guy served his time at Melb, played under the worst management of the clubs history still became AA..

Left (which we ended up getting with picks 2&3 with his compo)

And you label his premiership "cheap" the fact that you label a premiership cheap when the club we support hasn't been able to achieve since TV was Black and White..

I am not saying he wasn't. But he jumped on board to ride the last wave..

most of the hard work was already done.

Whorethorn deserved it's 4 flags. Chip jumped on board late when most of the work was done

thus i consider it a cheap flag compared to a 2016 Bulldog Flag

And their first round pick belongs to the saints. Sainters will be joyous with every Hawks loss.

Suck it Hawks.

Yeah.. winning a third flag in a row.. something rarely done.. incredibly cheap compared to winning 1 flag in 60 years..

HAAAAA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I take a small piece of pride knowing that it was definitely Melbourne that finally cracked them and made them come crumbling down.

Before Melbourne beat them - 9 wins in a row, just two losses for the season to round 18.

Since Melbourne beat them - 2 wins, 7 losses.

We can pin this one up next to Melbourne breaking Essendon, way back in the actual drug-cheating season.

Before losing to Melbourne, Round 10, 2012 - 8 wins, 1 loss.

After losing to Melbourne - 3 wins, 9 losses.

As a club, we achieve two things for other clubs. Getting their kids rising star nominations, and intervening on behalf of the football demiurge.

Our compo for Frawley was pick 3. We got pick 2 for finishing where we did.

chip just joined the ride late

A couple of questions going through my head:

Are the hawks playing for a priority pick?

Paul Roos the Hawthorn coach for 2018?

Take off your eye patch and pure jealousy of a better club. I got what you were implying, I just think it's a ridiculous thing to say.

It's sort of hollow celebrating their demise.

You want to, but deep down those 4 flags in 8 years don't give you much reason to.

Thanks Einstein.. I was saying we were able to get two picks inside the top 3 instead of 1.

I have seen everyone of their putrid flags since '71.

Worked with 3 Whorethorn Supporters who made my life hell in '87 & '88 ON A DAILY BASIS

I have no sympathy for Chip or Whorethorn Supporters

we could have used Chip on Saturday but he switched off in Mid 2014

Not sure who they'll trade, but you would think at least two of Hodge, Burgoyne and Gibson will call it quits at the end of the year.  Their list as a whole is looking light on for talent, especially in the key position areas, and after this year they will see even more experience disappear from the list.

I don't feel sorry for them in the slightest, but it was inevitable that they would take a fall after 4 flags.

Someone like poppy might hold some value to a team like the giants who don't really have a genuine small forward but is contending for a flag, I suspect they should try and get at least 2 top15 picks this year if they can

need a quick injection of young talent onto that list

I would be more than happy to be 0 & 4 if we had recently won FOUR PREMIERSHIPS.

I would be happy to see Melb trade for Bruest.

As would I, if they'd accept Ben Kennedy for him

I don't mind watching them fall apart.

Never liked them much and their flags are irrelevant at this stage.

Their demise is quite enjoyable.despite their succces.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
