Williamstown v Casey Demons

Sounds like a disappointing outing for Casey. Glad Hibberd got through unscathed and good to see Trengove playing well.

I literally have no effing idea what you're talking about or how you reached that conclusion.

I do rate Trengove and always have.

Give yourself an uppercut.

As for Pedersen ?  He's a dud.  Poor decisions, turned it over, and only got the ball while he was on ball.  I much prefer Weideman as a contesting forward.

Yeah, wasn't directed at you. I've inadvertently quoted one of your replies!

Pedersen is a VFL player.  Can't believe people get excited by someone who is OK at this level.  He's not a key position AFL forward.

I'm happy for Pedo to come back in next week.

Even if he has a 7 possssion 2 mark stinker, it will still be a better contribution than Weideman.

Hibberd looking like he's close to being ready.

Trengove makes good decisions.

Brayshaw better than VFL footy, but happy for him to stay there as long as required.

Have seen Pedersen do much better than what we're getting at the moment

Well that was some of the worst umpiring you'll see..

Brayshaw was meh for me.. Was hoping for him to really stand put and grab the game by the struff of the neck but didn't. Took a strong mark in the goalsquare though.

Trengove's class at times stood out. looks like he was playing majority as a half back flanker which is something we might see in the AFL soon. has time and composer at this level.

Pedersen battled on in the ruck and did well. I liked his game and right now based on that form he should be ahead of Weideman. But Hogan coming in do they go with Pedo aswell?

Kennedy was also quite good and looked classy at times. Id much rather him in the side then ANB who just panics at all cost when has ball in hand.  Would be close for selection you'd think.

Hibberd started slow as expected  but got better and better as the game went on. Id say bring him in. Some of his dtive and long kicking is exactly what we are lacking in the seniors. 25 disposals is a great return.

Oscar was another who was meh for me. Got rag dolled in a marking contest by none other thrn Ayce Cordy.. Needs time at VFL level.

Weideman was at the game with a massive bandage on his thigh and was limping. Doubt that he'll play anywhere next week. Pederson a lock.

I've answered these astute insights in the game changes thread.

But for the sake of repetition, Weideman averaged 10.5 disposals, 3.5 marks, and 1.5 goals in the two games Hogan played.  Hogan is back.

I'd much rather Weideman than the very average Pedersen, who has shown in his 61 AFL games that he's more a VFL player.

He is stronger than Weeds at the moment and so comes in automatically a no brainer!

"At this level' which is a zillion miles from the frenetic pace of AFL Too slow and finished! IMO

That's coz he is no good and never will be! Ragdolled by Ayce Cordy?? Might as well have been Cale Morton! OR Paul Callery!

well dazzle, we need a chf and a ff.      jack watts is neither.   so it's hogan and pedo for me.    that is, if we are picking teams to win rather than develop

in: hogan, pedo, hibberd

out: weideman, ????, melksham

Pedersen is a much, much better AFL player than Weideman at this stage.  He will give us more than Weid in every way imaginable.

We have to win games to make the finals, and playing a 19 year old KPF whos not even close to being ready for AFL is a liability.

Hannan would be the other out. I don't mind what you have said because i like Watts as that floating 3rd forward.

Hibberd is a definite in for me.

Why hasn't he been playing ?

He doesn't compete in the air unless he has the sit.

Even if Weideman is injured with a corky I wouldn't bring in Pedersen.

Pedersen is so good the most goals he's kicked in a season at Melbourne is 14.  Quick, rush him in...

Dazzle, I like Hannan and I reckon he will be a fantastic player for us, I reckon he has some serious X factor! I would much rather have him in and drop Harmes

being a fwd it probably has to be hannan   i like hannan but he's had his taste and showed a few tricks. he'll get another chance soon

the other reason re pedo is it will avoid wattsy getting mauled as relief ruck

I was at the game today. Only standout for me was Pedo. Lock him in for Monday night.

No, not rush him in.

He has earned his spot.

Watched Oscar today very closely. Man handled a few contests but has a iron fist. Not this week but is the future.

a besides he has been recovering from shoulder operation

I cant believe Weiderman is being given excuses. I dont get it.

Watch the Hawthorn game last year for an example of Pedersen creating an airial contest which benefits Weideman who collects the subsequent  easy loose ball running past and goals from Pedersen's good work.  Pedersen actually competes in the air and on ground level, neither of which Weideman has really shown this year.  I don't even understand how he got picked from his JLT series form, in which he was pretty much just a seagull kicking easy goals in the goal square as a loose man from over the top style handballs from others hard work.  I understand Weid has some good athletic and football atributes which bode well for the 'future' but that shouldn't make him the protected speices he seems to be come match selection.

Put Pedersen's best 14 goal effort in the context that a) he has rarely played a full season, b) spends time away from the forward line in the ruck and c) has played in a Melbourne team that has struggled to kick any goals and the 14 looks ok.

Prefer Weideman.

Don't rate Pedersen.  Not AFL quality.

You must be racking your brain why he's not getting a game.  Perhaps you're wrong.

I like Hannon too but he had 0 tackles on the back of going missing for 3 Qtrs.  He's been a passanger we have carried since round 2.

Reward blokes who have put in at VFL.

Bit harsh on Harmes PF, I thought he played pretty well on Saturday. He stuffed up with that final shot as there were options if he lowered his eyes, but it shouldn't have got to that point. He competed hard all day and his efforts in the air are always impressive for a smaller forward. Don't think he should be dropped.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
