Joel Smith hardly a surprise after Garland went down, with Hibberd and Wagner already unavailable.  Congrats and good luck to Joel.

Yeah, that was the start of his end of season collapse where he just couldnt find the goals after that.

We were also coming off the Darwin game which wouldn't have helped

Team has been selected.

There are some big surprises!!!

That is all I can say.

A big surprise would be someone who didn't play JLT like Hannan.

If Tyson's out because "he's underdone", then it would be a surprise to see Kent who has had even less exposure.

Smith hardly a surprise with the injuries we have back there to medium talls.

Reading Goodwin's player reviews I think he likes ANB's pre-season and he may play ahead of others.

What is his skill that hurts the opposition? I don't see one.

At best he is serviceable IMO.

I don't have the mag with me so I can't exactly quote it but in essence Goodwin said he'd had a great pre-season and really plays the game the way we want it to be played.  I think he's a bit vanilla too but I'm just trying to read the tea leaves.

If Watts is not selected it is another stuff up by the new management. (The other was the co-captaincy)

Watts is clearly best 22... ok he could be better.... but this will make the weekend all about Watts and not about team improvement.

Hopefully Watts is selected... we have a win and can get the season away to a decent start. MFCSS says otherwise of course !!

Anyone who didn't play JLT and isn't considered "best 22" would be a big surprise:  Hannan, Pedersen, Kennedy, Trengove.  Jetta / Tyson / Kent / Garlett all have an element of surprise by virtue of limited JLT / Casey time.  We shall see.....

This has been a terrific pre-season in my view. Ive enjoyed it anyway. :)

The new frantic hard hitting approach must lead to a better start of season than any I can remember for at least 10 years.

Im happy to back the best 22 pinned onto the changeroom wall this afternoon.

Just tell us you [snip]

Rumours starting to pop up that maybe Hannan might debut.  Watts doing extra ruck duties at training. Guess we'll find out pretty soon.

All this anticipation coupled with some supposed surprises has me so worked up!

It's a real bonus living in WA and getting the teams announced 3 hours earlier than Vic.

Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
