I'm talking about Cripps first 18 games, not the 3 in his first year.

When you add the first 15 from his excellent second year to the 3 from his first year I think you'll find his first 18 games provide similar output.

Interestingly the SEN has been discussing live trading and they put forward the 2015 draft with gold coast and melbourne and they suggest that Gold Coast wanted Oliver and traded down from pick 3 to melbourne for pick 5 which they thought that they would still get Oliver later with. Problem was that we grabbed him so early in their thoughts!

In the article from Brett Anderson: "The recent case study involving both the Gold Coast and Melbourne in the 2015 AFL Draft is a prime example of why draft day trading would benefit their list management strategies, as the Suns tried to predict the overall position of late riser Clayton Oliver during the trade period. Clayton Oliver’s stocks kept rising. During trade period Gold Coast was a club that traded down from pick three to five with the idea of being able to get him. The problem was though, is that the pick they traded to Melbourne was the one that came up to take Clayton Oliver,”.

I'm pleased in general - and obviously in hindsight - that we took the exact opposite approach to Gold Coast. Once we identified Oliver as our target, we left nothing to chance regarding how high he would bolt and simply went out and bought the dice. Love that GC probably thought we were maneuvering to secure Parish.

In Cripps' breakout season (2015), he had x4 30+ disposal games. x7 30+ disposal games in 2016.

In Rockliff's breakout season (2010), he had x3 30+ disposal games. It's also worth noting Clarry's CPs are a lot higher than Rockliff's were at the same time. There is a similar correlation between Cripps' CPs and Clarry's though.

I'd argue Oliver's breakout has been this season, rather than last, so he's taken slightly more games to hit 30+ disposals, but is now doing it with such regularity that he's having a steeper climb in form that than other two and being more consistent about it. 

But, we're only 5 games in. It'll be interesting to see how he tracks this year.

He's clocking elite stats now. He's played 18 games. But beyond that, it's plain to see that he's nowhere near yet touched the surface. This is not just some kid who has adjusted early to AFL with a big body. His ceiling is absolutely enormous. If he had played like he did on the weekend just five matches ago we'd be ecstatic, but we've already come to take it for granted. He did four or five things vs. Richmond that would ordinarily be staggering - like no other individual in the AFL could; yet now I just get a quiet little smile.

I think he had 28 touches to three quarter time, so had 4 touches for the last. Haven't been able to confirm that anywhere though.

I don't. I yell it out and commentate his every disposal. He's a genius. The most exciting footballer I've ever watched in a Melbourne jumper. Ahead of Jesse, Hunt, the Wiz, Davey, Gaz, Schwarz and for a short time, Jackovich.

The first handball to space in that chain was brilliant. How did he even find space in that pack? Then he somehow ran on to it himself, received an illegal high tackle and somehow got it to Garlett. 

I'm pretty sure he has some kind of telekinetic power over the ball. I haven't seen another human who can do these things so often.
