One player who won't be at Casey next Saturday according to this article is Jack Watts.

Jack Watts might need to wait until March 19 to play a VFL practice game

The writer seems to rely on Jones' comments...maybe Jones forgot there is a VFL practice game next week.

I get what the club is doing with Watts but to give him no match practice, even at VFL practice games, just doesn't make sense as it compromises his readiness to play be it VFL or AFL.

Goodwin himself said Jack needs to be ready to play when selected so if other players get VFL practice games so should Jack, as by all accounts he has been doing all that is required for the last 2/3 weeks; unless there is something else behind the 'suspensions'.

Getting beyond a joke

Irrespective of form the pressure that this badly handled media fiasco will put on the man is unacceptable.

Form was not the issue.  His commitment to training and the standards put in place are what has kept him out of the side.  Nothing at all to do with form.

The article does say he won't be playing next weekend against the Redtails from Central Australia.

He could still go to WA the following week or play for Casey v Williamstown a week before they play Port Melbourne.

What pressure is he under if he knows the coaching dept have his back & are using "training form" as a cloak to hide an injury?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
