From all the reports, the Demons have managed this well. Their care has not been negligent and there has not been a lack of care. So a disappointing position by the player. However, one thing that has got a lot worse in this world is the blame game. More and more people want to blame others for their misfortune and profit from it. It is a sad feature of our society today.

However, I agree with many on this thread that the player would have struggled to get a game this year and at best was good depth. His disposal and brain fades and contested footy would not have cut the mustard. A recruitment fail.

Excellent words of wisdom there Ernest.

Gotta love Bernie.  Putting H in his place but in a professional way and letting the media know what the story really is.

I'd be vary wary of taking anything in that Hun article on face value. I doubt he will sue the club.

That said i have little doubt he won't play another game with us and in all likelihood with anyone else for that matter.

Wonder if it might mean we get a more experienced rookie than we previously planned, even though H wasn't best 22 (consensus opinion) he has still played the equal second most games of anyone on our list so his experience would have been of some value.

HIS type of experience would be of no value to anyone, at least not to any sane person.

It has always been all about H first - Collingwood were obviously very glad to move him on.  A disruptive egotist.

Certainly nowhere close to best 22 now.

The club must stand up and defend the case, should he actually be bringing one.

Au revoir  H  !!

He can [censored] off, even if he was a good bloke and injury free he's just not that good. Hunt's streets ahead of him.

Kinda fitting that we got him in a straight swap for Clark. Better off without them both.

I am a cynic, much of what is reported in the papers contains factual errors.

In the Age, "H" is not quoted. Mahoney is quoted. Where do they get the details? Who said Lumumba has a problem and would probably sue? He has no manager and no claims are made about talking to him. The quotes attributed to Mahoney talk of the clubs care and that Lumumba was consulting further specialists prior to returning to training.(summation not quote).

I think the media can smell a story and are joining a lot of dots. They may be right, just like Trump has no chance of being elected, oh wait.

He doesn't want to sue. He wants money.

Nail on head.

I think the club has got this one sussed ;)

None of this makes a lot of sense, to a logical person the best way for Lumumba to earn a 4th year would be to prove he can still play great footy in his 3rd year!

Suing is only going to cost himself a lot of heartache and disruption, waste everyone's time and make lawyers money in legal fees...

He's certainly got issues, hope we learn our lesson and stay away from players of dubious character in the future.

I think H sees this as his last big pay check before he becomes a follower of Maher Baba or whichever Nutbag Guru he feels close to at this time.

Actually it's very interesting. I'd sue him for breach of contract.

That would be the Counterclaim.

And it would put the wind up him.

Not sure that is correct.

H beats to his own very special drum. It might just increase his persecution  complex.

No, he thinks he doesn't have a downside but faced with the prospect of having to give us something he'd crumble. Having said that it's a bluff by us. AFLPA would have to support him.

No win for anyone but the lawyers.

I think the MFC have been very patient and will not do anything precipitous.

They have played the long game now for months why rush at this stage.

IMO they have given him nothing  to base case against them.

They are going to be paying him some money so why rush now.

In the past I would have worried about the way the MFC might have handled this problem. In 2016 I have way more confidence in PJ and the management. They say Patience is a virtue and in this case it is IMO very true.

You know, if he worked his butt off before and during the pre-season and came back fit and raring to go to work his way into the side, he could have triggered a contract extension by actually committing himself and having a stellar year. Obviously he would rather take money rather than earn it.

Would love for this to get sorted ASAP , would love another pick in this years Rookie draft

It may be too late for that. We could certainly uplift a player and take another Category B Rookie though.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
