Agree, bur Spencer is unfairly maligned on here, never let the team down when given the opportunity

But if we are going down that path, not sure a VFL ruckman is the  'instant' answer, and there is not much out there, in my opinion

Some have mentioned Minson, he is playing VFL for a reason, we will see how he goes against Pencil and McInerny this weekend

Spencer certainly doesn't let the team down with his effort or agression, however his foot skills and footy smarts do from what I recall watching him at AFL level.  That said, bar the Geelong game (in which he actually looked OK), pretty much every other game he's played in I recall at AFL level, the whole team played like crap and that's always a hard environment to perform in.

I defiantly think he's worth holding on to and thought that the club should have played him a few times this year to help him develop, but also give big Max a bit of a chop out.  I'm a bit concerned that Max is going to get burnt out doing it all on his own, particularly against two genuine ruck types most weeks.  I also don't think it's good to use Jack Watts to relieve in the ruck on a regular basis, although it is useful that he has now developed a bit of a capability there now and perhaps it might help his physicality and combativeness in that regard to jump in there every now and then.

Both garbage posts.

When you claim to speak for "most" on Land it's not your opinion chap, it's a lie.

But it is my opinion Moonie, if you consider it a lie, that's entirely up to you, think I can live with it.

Could say exactly the same about your epistles, but too polite to do that

In my opinion, Spencer has been in the delist or trade topics for at least the last four years

Wattsy is growing self belief from the ruckwork,  which 2 seasons ago he would have been too timid for.  So he may get sore, but he grows more as a man.

It's not the long term plan I'm sure, but its helping him realise what he can do.

Just out of interest, which players on our list do you think are fairly maligned?

Not many, because, until I am corrected, the maligners have never been on an AFL list, an opinion I have expressed on here before

So without being on an AFL list you can't possibly be in a position to judge AFL players.

better let Carlton know they should sack Brendan Bolten.

How about when the opinion of a poster matches that of a commentator/writer with three hundred games of AFL experience?

What a farcical comment. By that logic, if a doctor is responsible for the death of a loved one due to their negligence, you shouldn't be angry because you couldn't have done any better yourself.

Are chefs the only people allowed to give an opinion on food?

Astrologists the only people allowed to comment on the weather?

Honestly, what a ridiculous comment. Imagine a world where we could only comment on things related to our profession. Imbecilic.

Image result for you can't be serious meme

What the hell is the club doing putting Jason Taylor in charge of recruiting? He's never been on an AFL list, so what would he know about what it takes to make it as an AFL footballer?

Oscar managed only a 12.8 in the state screening beep test. Even by big man standards that shows he has a lot of work to do on his tank if he gets on an AFL list and wants a game at the highest level.

I don't think that's too bad. He's had what, 1 year at Casey? If he's coming off a low base of professional training that can improve a fair bit

I suspect Oscar is on people's radars at the moment because he did enough in the qualifying and preliminary finals, from seemingly nowhere, to excite a 'who-is-this-guy/where-did-he-come-from' reaction, particularly in the qualifying where everyone looked good. Are any 'landers aware of a bigger picture that warrants interest?

I think he should be in the frame. He was smashed in the VFL GF along with Spencer which looked bad and cooled expectations, but his overall rate of improvement last year was great.  He has a lot of scope for physical development.  We need to draft at least one ruckman.

Given that most turn out to be busts, i wouldn't bat an eyelid if we picked ruckman with all our ND and RD picks

I'd much rather we go after a ruck prospect such as McInerney as opposed to keeping White on the rookie list for another year. We have plenty of mid-sized defenders, but our ruck / key position depth is abysmal.

Ah.   That old chestnut.

I will ask you this.   If you can't  criticise the bad can you appreciate the good?

And if so how do you know what good is if you aren't permitted to judge the standard if you haven't been on an afl list?

What do you actually do at the football if you won't allow yourself to judge the merits or otherwise of what occurs in front of you?

It has been suggested to me that 204cm Oscar is likely to be drafted before Melbourne's first pick is called out at 47.

Here's a story in the local news on the young Casey tall -

Scorpion Oscar McInerney, all 204cm of him, is attracting interest from AFL clubs

Seems we didn't hide him enough. You were meant to distract all the scouts with bacon and egg rolls KC!!!

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
