AFL Semi Finals Weekend 2016

What is with the masochistic, depressing commentary? For Christ sake, revel in the Bulldogs! A young, up and coming team showing up the Hawks on the big stage! This is a huge game in the context of AFL history and the commentators sound like they're drowning in sorrow.

Keep the pressure on Dogs. Only 4 goals in it with 5 minutes to go.

I would be so [censored] off listening to this as a Bulldogs supporter -- nothing but crying over the end of the Hawks' reign.

It reminds me of our upsets over the last few years, getting no credit and all the commentators basically saying it was an off day for the opposition. Makes my blood boil.

It is f@cking unbelievable the amount of throwing in this game.

Reminiscent of Port during their short-lived stint at the top a few years back.

Winners are grinners

Where's Bruce? He's gone quiet?

Is he popping down to the Hawks changerooms?

The bigger they are,the harder they fall.

It's nice to see the dogs win, but I just want to see 20 minutes of losing Hawthorn players and coaching staff.

Would make a change after 25 weeks of popping off to the Hawks on screen.

Hawks, again, looked like they think they were robbed.

A reminder that when we played the Hawks, they were two games clear on top of the ladder.

We started their downfall.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
