Wonder why Gysberts couldn't manage an MFC polo or jacket - he must have had one by then.  An insight in to his idea of professionalism perhaps, or perhaps an insight in to how well (or otherwise) the MFC delivered its expectations of professionalism.

And Fitzy just... heh.

A bit of both, but what the hell is he holding?

Good lord! What a bunch of malnourished, prepubescent, impoverished misfits. Trenners looks positively huge in comparison to the other three. Fitzy's hair looks like big Max has vomitted all over it, and Gys must've just got out of bed!

When you look at these guys you have to ask yourself if it is reasonable to expect first year players to compete against men at AFL level.

No wonder they need to be rested in their first season

All the best to him, and I genuinely hope he does well but if he is not doing that sort of stuff week in week out, they will drop him in a heartbeat. I would rather see the hawks go again (or any of the other team for that matter) rather than GWS, just something about the thought of Tom Scully winning a premiership sends a horrible shiver down my spine...

I still remember someone (not saty I don't think) who, when this photo came out, said "But you don't know how many reps and sets he had done before it!"

No they weren't in there. Seriously, I've never met them or had anything to do with them. I'm not that sort of reverend!

No. I'm about as musical as the Port Adelaide theme song.

I'm sorry, so are you Most, Right or Very. I have ruled out Dodgy as you had nothing to do with those young boys.

No you are correct, that wasn't me chap, I was actually horrified when I first met Gysberts, I was in my late 50's by then and had bigger biceps, gone to seed with semi retirement now sadly

I knew it wasn't you and wanted to head off the 'must have been saty' brigade.

Gysberts could have been a good footballer, if he had the drive. Would love Viney at Gysberts height

What, do you reckon Beamer is thinking (in the background)??  Did he do a lot of thinking?

I stand by my theory that no team will win a final with Jack Fitzpatrick playing.

He wasn't their worst.

Bit harsh on him. Wasn't too bad at all tonight. Got monsterd in the ruck by Roughead but around ground he was surprisingly calm.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
