We knew going in that would be the case.

I don't think Essendon are doing anything wrong here, they want this year's 2nd we want to give them next year's because we already gave away our 1st this year. Both clubs are trying to get the best deal, no one's being difficult it's just the way it is.

We may end up giving them next year's 2nd but with a swap of later picks this year or some other sweetener thrown in.

maybe essendon are worried we will have a great year next year if we finish say 4th the our first pick without any compo being given to any team would be 14, our second pick would be at around 32. with compo, father and son etc that could be anything.  if essendon dont believe we are going to go any good next year i.e. finish 8, then our 2nd round pick could be 26th without compo, etc...  so maybe essendon have faith that we are going to have a good year next year

But that's such an easy thing to do. Yet a week and a half and it's still not done. Every time I've heard this trade mentioned on SEN, it's been with the comment that "shows what it's like to deal with Essendon".

And Essendon may regard that as a compliment, that they are tough.

F*ckin hate the guy but we all wish Dodoro worked for the MFC. What an asset.

I vehemently disagree.

Getting deals done > posturing.

He's famous for constipating the trading period and dragging deals out until zero hour yet their list really doesn't look any better for it.

On closer thought, any three way deal with GWS re: Stewart could be as simple as:

MFC 2017 2nd Round Pick & Col Garland to GWS

Stewart & Pick 37 to Essendon

Hibberd to Melbourne

We keep Pick 29 and Essendon get their precious 2016 2nd Round Pick.

The deal will be done because the dead heads in the AFL don't want any more TWSNBN related dichotomy, where another player takes them on during Trade period this time. All the while, two Officials and a Player are on the precipice.

EFC aka drugcheats should get zilch for Hibberd and we should get compo for Marksham. We still are a sad club when nobody wants Dawes,Garland,Spencer and hopefully satin inc. takes Dunn.

Your English is terrible, however your Latin is excellent.

Yeah they might. But Dodo's not admired on SEN; he's ridiculed.

And he may have cost them any number of good trades over the years.

Not that GWS would take Garland, but how is Stewart worth our 2017 2nd pick and Garland?

How is Hibberd then worth Stewart and pick 37?

I don't understand why Hibberd doesn't just take Essendon to court and have his contract terminated for the Bombers negligence and lack of Duty of Care to him as an employee.?  And seek the court to order his costs payable by Bombers while he's at it.

No brainer.

Stewart is likely worth slightly more then Garland, however our 2017 2nd rounder is likely worth more then Pick 37 this year. That's how that element should work itself out.

From Essendon's end if they think Hibberd is worth a 2016 2nd rounder (specifically 29) then 37 with Stewart should balance out.

From our end we get what we want in that we can use our 2017 pick rather then this years, however also have to cough up Garland for that luxury.

Such stark contrast between Essendon and Hawthorn.

I know they are different circumstances but one club just got it done and moves on, the other acts like a child.

Last year we did the exact same, when we could've easily tried to get a 3rd rounder for Melksham we instead just got it done and moved on.

People think Dodoro is a shrewd operator when in fact he is clueless.

Because that would be a massive, massive pain in the arse?

Mainly because trade week relies on everybody acting reasonably, because they all have to deal with each other again next year, and the year after that.

17 clubs are usually prepared to do the right thing by each other. They try to not get into a situation with the 18th club where they have to rely on them to be reasonable and to do the right thing by everybody else. But sometimes it's unavoidable.

Getting in Lewis hasn't helped the next year scenario. We suddenly look like a decent side, and if we get into the finals, that second-round pick is going to be even further back than where it is now.

You're right. Let's give Lewis back. I really didn't want to give up pick 66 anyway

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
