R: Gawn, Viney, Fyfe

I appreciate Fyfe being in there, but if Trengove is getting a game ahead of Vince I'll eat my hat.

I guess we'll see.

FB: Jetta  Frost/Oscar (Hibberd)
HB: Lewis  T Mc  Hunt
C: Salem   Jones   Stretch
HF: Petracca  Hogan  Kent
FF: Garlett   Weed/Pedda  Watts
Foll: Gawn   Viney  Tyson
Int:
Brayshaw - forward/mid rotation
Oliver - inside mid
Vince - outside mid
Frost or Oscar/Wagner/Melksham - half back

Rotations will be vital. Viney and Tyson should play half forward. Jones to half back or wing, with Lewis and Vince going on ball. Salem to half back. Watts to a wing. Hunt to a wing.

Hibberd O McDonald Jetta

Hunt TMcDonald Melksham

Vince Tyson Lewis

Petracca Hogan Kent

Garlett Weideman Watts

Gawn N.Jones Viney

Brayshaw, Oliver, Salem, Harmes

What about emergencies?

No mention of Lumumba, Vandenberg?

Seems ify about 1 key fwd and 1 key back?

Watts &/or Pedo as 2nd rucks?

I suspect Vince has hit his Use By date.

FB: Frost - TMac - Jetta
HB: Hibb - OMac - Hunt
C: Stretch - Jones - Salem
HF: CP5  - Hogan - Kent
FF: Gartlett - Weid - Watts
F: Gawn - Viney - Tyson
I: Oliver, Lewis, Brayshaw, Vince
E: Vanders, Pederson, Melksham

Next tier: Harmes, Bugg, BenKen, Wagner, Lumumba, ANB, Garland

Watch this space could be surprise inclusions: J Smith, JKH

Our best 22 looks so much better but that next tier shows our depth is there but still a little questionable

FB: Frost - TMac - Jetta
HB: Hibb - OMac - Hunt
C: ??? - Tyson - ???
HF: CP5  - Hogan - Kent
FF: Gartlett - Weid - Watts
F: Gawn - Viney - Jones

I think the above lines nearly pick themselves, then the 2 wing spots plus the interchange come from 6 of the following: Lewis, Stretch, Vince, Oliver, Brayshaw, Salem, Melksham, VDB, Harmes, Wagner or Bugg. Depending on who we are playing then Peders, Lumumba, BenKen could come into the thoughts. Then we've got Trenners, JHK, Garlo, ANB and Spencer who all need a big season if they are going to be around beyond 2017. Hulett is still developing so I wouldn't put him in that bracket and Mitch King is on the come back from injury, not sure if anyone else on the current list will be there after the trade period.

EMG: Harmes VDB Stretch

Love for Trenners to have a blinder of a preseason and break back into the best 22 where he belongs.

Posters above have  "Weed" in our best team. Don't think this is the case just at the moment, however, it's a judgement to revisit after the  pre season and NAB cup.

Yeah i Agree he isnt in our "best" team but i suspect he will be in our first team. As much as we want to play finals next year it is still a development year. I think they will aim to slot him in with everyone else to fast track him into a regular player, similar to OMac. Ideally he will play games early have a few rests throughout the year then depending on how he has gone we make a call late as to whether to play him leading into finals or play Pedo.

Yes but at this stage the only other option is Peders and I see him as insurance rather than a realistic best 22 player. Might take the Weid half the season to deserve the spot in the best, but I have no doubt he'll be there long term. Much like OMac this year, give them as much game time as possible because the aim is not just to get to finals - veterans like Dunn/Garlo/Dawes/Peders might get us an extra win - but the young guns will get us much closer to winning the whole thing.

Pedo is certainly ahead of the Weed at the moment and will be in round 1 IMO.  let Sammy earn his spot

Easily the toughest "best 22" I've tried to make in a decade.

HB: Hibberd Frost Hunt

C: Vince Viney Salem

HF: Watts Pedersen Petracca

FF: Garlett Hogan Kent

I'm tipping Casey will be right up there again this year.

right now, of course pedo is a better player than weideman. by rd 1 2017 though.. who knows? i'm pretty sure he'll be gaining ground on pedo pretty consistently over the next 6 mths or so. love both players though. pedo has been a great servant. weideman is the future and the game he played against the hawks was great to see live. he was involved in heaps, considering he didn't have much time on the ground.

geez, that's a strong team.. reckon melksham will be thereabouts too, but i'd agree with that. also, i wasn't impressed with o-mac until around mid season. we need to get games into him for sure.

Kurt Tippett will be in everyones teams in the next 48 hours.

Nailed it.

As I mentioned in the Lewis thread, Melksham not in the best side seems odd given he's just be en brought in for a second rounder, but for mine he'd be the first one to make way.

Outside speed still to be addressed but good luck to any side that wants the ball to start with.

Hibberd and Lewis are both great users of the footy and will make a big impact in that regard, along with Salem at full health (touch wood).

Genuine cause for optimism next season.

Garland won the meat tray last year, 2 more years to go.

Is there any significant difference between being named centre, ruck rover or rover? (Is the term Ruck Rover still used?)

Adam Goodes was a ruck/rover in his heyday.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
