It was really odd, but I think that even though Gawn was still getting a hand to it, he was a bit overwhelmed with firepower and wasn't directing it all that well.

He had a lot more "hitouts to advantage" but really we weren't able to capitalise on his dominance and found it hard to get moving out of the stoppages. For all Gawn's stats I thought he was ineffective on the weekend and was well nullified by the opposition coaches (as he has been in our losses vs Saints x2 and Port).

Went to the game as a Guest in the Members

I haven't been for years due to living in NSW and coaching in very low standard leagues

Was the least enjoyable game I've ever seen and I've been watching for Sixty years

So you missed all the games between 2011 and 2014 Old Bear.

I can bring to mind about 50 I would put in that group.

Sundays game had one thing that raised it to ok.

We bloodly well won.

It was certainly ugly OB but I would rather be winning regardless of how it happens. Winning is infectious throughout the entire club ....not too many positives I can think of when you don't.

Gloat? He played well because we gave him a bake on D'land....

I didn't follow that example, but there are quite a few on Demonland who think what we say and think actually affects how player play.  Fantasy football.

I was jesting but it may not have been a coincidence that the week we start a thread on VDBs performances this year being sub par, particular his 1 tackle, 4 possession game against the eagles I think it was, he steps up and plays the way we know he can.

I know they are told not to read sites like this but human nature being what it is.....

Don't totally disagree, but there have been many times we've shown better skill and execution but come away with a loss, I feel like these "painful wins" can sometimes be a reward for effort from other games.

I would say a lot of the boys would say four points means a lot more the SFA.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
