I thought of you last week as Oscar was coming off thinking of the gleeful smile on your face. The fall from such happiness must have been hard when he was named this week. You may get what you want though as he may not get through training today.

I never ever like to see ANY player get injured. You have misjudged me! Badly!

Hoping O Mac is rested.   If hes not we may only see one or two changes from last week, which doesnt seem enough considering the two guys with injury clouds and the fact we are always stuffed on the return game from Darwin.

A team defensive effort that doesn't allow them the freedom to move the ball from one end to the other Globetrotter-style will be a good start.

Was more like Chinese checker style....Ithink they had 14 or 18 uncontested marks inside 50. An utter disgrace of a game.

Tend to agree mate, we were shown up last time against the Saints at Etihad, and if we bring in say Brayshaw and Bugg, we're not really gaining a lot of leg speed which is vital at that ground. I want to back the selectors in, but it's hard to this year after so many selection errors.

agree

Only got to training towards the finish but did observe the centre circle huddle at the end in which Roos, Jones, Stretch, Brayshaw, Wagner and Bugg participated.  Using the head bowed / head up criteria (which I know won't be sufficiently robust for jnrmac and some others on here who demand irrefutable information sources unless, oddly enough, it's their own observation), Brayshaw is in and Stretch is out at a minimum.  I think Wagner may also get a guernsey but perhaps that's as an emergency in case Omac doesn't come up (looked to be moving freely in the brief window of training I observed, as did Vince).

No problem as you correctly state your criteria for your opinion rather that try to claim incontrovertible fact after listening to someone else's opinion on a radio broadcast.

Well done on evolving. Good to see you are not beyond learning and adapting. :roos:

Agreed but we will need all parts of the engine working. Importantly we will need to reduce out turnover count as it will probably be a close one if both sides bring their best game to the contest. Hopefully, we will have learnt some lessons from the past, particularly regarding our nemesis Nick R.

I hope that deep in the final quarter we are all over the Saints on contested ball, but importantly run and spread.

Its good to see Brayshaw back i must say. If hes up and firing will give us some extra drive around the place...

Why the heck is Gus back???  I love the kid and he is a gun but come on, he has had no game time since his come back and they want to bring him into the seniors again underdone!?  I know his concussions haven't stopped him from running but it is not match fitness. So after we get beaten the excuse will be we didn't select enough fresh legs and the ones we did select should have had more game time at Casey, about sums it up?

I just hope the selectors are playing games when naming Gus or this game will play out exactly the same way it did in RND 6.

Agree I hope this doesn't backfire!

hopefully a calculated risk picket, but it seems to me more like a risk.

After the Essendon debacle the backlash on here was that Brayshaw was brought too early and underdone..

I have sneaky feeling this could be the case again.

This also proves how highly rated Brayshaw is amongst coaching staff.

Didnt Gus just play two full games for Casey or was he on a minutes restriction?

Why would they rest him?

I thought Oliver was our best against the Tiges a couple of weeks ago, a class above and they were paying close attention to him....Brayshaw started ok but faded.

The only reason I can think of is they're not convinced with Oliver's defensive game against the Saints runners, I don't think Brayshaw adds much more here.

Yeah he did, not sure how many minutes though.

He didn't play becasue of his consussions and long lay off, in that time he was suppose to be getting match fitness, now he is back I would think the goal would be back to getting match fit.

Very very interesting. Bookies know we are about to break a hoodoo?

BTW I think the ins for demons are good we have to play hard contested football and we will win

Now into $1.60 in some markets on the back of Dawes not being named.

Looks far from ready, both form wise and physically, for the step up to AFL IMO

Might be better to get a full pre-season into him and aim for a return in 2017. The head knocks haven't helped.

Spot on Rjay. Neither  are 'lock ins' yet but Clarry is the obvious choice over Gus. Although i thought Grimes/White were also handy against the Tiges and in our best. Tim Smith probably BOG and Keilty not far behind outside of our blokes.

I have to question why we would not wish to select our best possible team every week, provided any youngsters in the mix have been managed well. With the bye there's no reason why they wouldn't be ready to roll.

Yes. Plus what was supposed to be an intense training session on the weekend to makeup for the bye.

Oliver still can't get through full games, he's only doing around 60% game time.

For his first season, Oliver has done phenomenally well and is a hugely exciting prospect. But he's still only a kid, and you'd have to expect that at some point the load will start to catch up on him.

I also feel that at least for the moment, Gus (at his best) is a better player than Clarrie (at his best). Only to be expected, he's a year further down the track. In the longer term, who knows, though hopefully both to turn out to be gems.

Clayton Oliver is already a better player then Brayshaw. Gus at at his best is a 20 disposal game against Geelong last year.

Oliver's best so far is a 26 disposals 7 tackled and 2 goals plus the 7 clearences in th first half against North.

Kid will/already is an absolute gem.

I love Brayshaw and the future ahead for him but he gets a tad overrated on this website at times.

Yeh I don't think there are any stats that reflect how good  Brayshaw looked last year.

But that pass to Jeff on QB

That goal against North...

He can do things Oliver can't. (And vice versa of course) I think it's a tad early to decide who is the better player of the two.
