On the subject of memento's, it is a shame similar originality didn't go into the 'Women's Foundation Member' pack.  (I'm not suggesting a ring) but for the life of me I can't work out why they included a lapel pin - I mean who wears a blazer/jacket these days?  And we already have sooooo many scarves.

I do like the commemorative certificate tho'!

So if you can cope with another scarf and a lapel pin, and help the team, sign up as a Foundation Member: https://membership.melbournefc.com.au/womens

I'm looking forward to putting the lapel pin on the collar of my duffel coat with my 10yr membership and Snoopy in a Dees guernsey pin.

I'll be interested in seeing what off field invites we get throughout the season, there has to be some perks to being a foundation member over a regular member I'm assuming

Each Demon women's player will receive a commemorative ring, engraved with their draft year, mfc logo and the sequence number at which they joined the club (ala the Australian cricket team player number).  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-11-18/womens-players-receive-rings

A very proud item for a player to have and each one will be unique.

I want to know if they are counting the players from the exhibition games in the numbering.  Do they get rings or will it all start with this group as the first squad in the first season?

Judging by the video it goes by this year's draft order

It may have been mentioned elsewhere, but I was interested to hear at the AGM that the club only has the ladies for 9 hours per week, or 72 hours total before season starts.

I suppose on top of full time jobs or whatever most are doing, it'd add up, but I had assumed it'd be more than a handful of hours per week.

Interesting to see that the Women's team foundation memberships have just about sold out.

500x$250=$125,000

So that's the salaries of a little under under half the players covered for the first season.

Guess we'll have to wait and see how many regular memberships comes through for the women's team, how much merchandise, attendences, and of course the all-important sponsors.

But if the aim is about $500k/season, you'd have to be feeling pretty confident.

Keep your eye on Shelley Scott in our team.

Word I have is she's probably one of the toughest women footballers going around and will definitely hurt the opposition at each and every opportunity.

Channel 7 just did a story on her for the nightly news; it consisted of her dedication to working the family dairy farm while having a two hour drive to training. It was some nice exposure for us.

Sweet, I doubt it'll be on Perth news. Hope to view it somewhere at some stage.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
