I'd throw 2014 in there too. We were incapable of scoring that year

I was being nice to Roos.

Channel 7

Costs me $100 per month to watch Melbourne, because Ch 7 do not know they exist !!

The reason we do not play some Clubs as often is because they play on Friday Nights and MFC are not in favour of Wall to Wall Bookmaker odds.

Lol North are a top club with no money that go out every week and play for there supporters , the players bleed for the jumper and club I have nothing but the highest respect for North there everything I one day hope we can be and Roos would think the same .

Plus they don't take money from gambling, ranking them as a people's team.

Hawthorn, Giants  and the Bulldogs? Might as well add the Crows to that list while your going.

Again I must be watching a different game to others.

Freo : gameplan doesn't involve scoring

Richmond : so predictable

Essendon : VFL standard

it's not about watchability, it is all about envy with the Hawks Giants and Bulldogs

I am with you for the first two, don't watch any game involving the third

Untill I joined DL I had no idea how many Dees fans hated North Melbourne. Collingwood, hawthorn Essendon, Richmond sure but everyone seems to hate north, but I digress. Based on this year, Essendon, Gold Coast and Freo seem the clear choices to me maybe add Richmond and Brissy to the mix. I do want to see brissy get better though, I tend to develop a soft spot for any underdog... excluding the 4 I mentioned earlier they could be the bottom 4 for all of time and I would be happy.

Not really related to this topic but how can an undermanned Essendon side get more friday night games than the MFC..?

Because the fixture was developed under the delusion that the Essendon players were going to get off. As soon as WADA appealed it was plain as day they were going to be suspended. The AFL lives in its own little world where it gets to make up the rules as they please. Makes no sense to me, but lots of cents for them.

I assumed it would be part of the AFL's dodgey little give the bombers a leg up plan despite them sending the comps integrity into the dirt.

I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that one of the most exciting young sides in the comp gets one friday night game in the last two seasons, yet a team of VFL players is already having their second this year and Carlton who won the spoon last year has had a heap as well.

It's about supporters man, not enough make the effort to go to our games, particularly if they think they are going to lose. So putting us on prime time isnt going to happen. Hawthorn and Essendon will draw big crowds because of who they are, simple as that. Round up everyone we know and drag them to dee's games for the rest of the season and we might get 1 or 2 shots at a prime time slot. But while supporters continue to say thinks like "its cold and we're playing hawthorn so im not going" we are never going to get those slots.

Taking pure hate out of the equation, then it is in this order:

1. Freo (Since Ross Lyon)

2. Daylight

3. Carlton, Melbourne (2014) or Richmond (who are just insipid and always in prime time slots)

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
