I thought there were forms of muscular dystrophy that are not as severe and can see someone live a long life, so maybe he wasnt kidding around. ย Mind you I may be wrong, just thought Id heard that somewhere

No mate it's a horrible disease the average life span is around 20 , there usually confined to a wheel chair from the age of 13 then from around 17 they need a steel rod in there spine and the wheel chairs are electric it's a poor way to pass on .

Didn't mean any offence Middymalt.ย

I've got muscular dystrophy, and a sense of humour, both of them are pretty messed up.ย

What a great little story that shows the character of Christian and some of the people now at the club.

I hope Lucas and his family have a brilliant day tomorrow and get to enjoy a Melbourne win!

Petraccattack is right, there are many forms of muscular dystrophy. Duchenne being the worst form with the lifespan of around 20.ย

I have a severe form,ย but not Duchenne, been in a wheelchair since I was 18.ย

Viney, Tyson, Bradshaw, Petracca, Oliver Gawn.

Are we looking at a future premiership midfield here boys?!ย

ย

ย Football is more than just a game. Great effort by CP5, the club and most importantly,ย by the boy and his dad.ย

Whilst no where near as interestingย as the other stories, I met him with my 4 y.o.ย son on Grand Final day. We had ourย dees gear on, so naturally he made a bee-line for us. He spent a good 5 minutes just chatting to my son, he is fantastic with kids - really relates to them on their level. Needless to say he's got a fan for life.ย

My son was worried about his broken toe, and has asked every week when he will be playing for the dees. Needless to say heย is very excited that he is playing tomorrow and will be proudly wearing his No.5 jumper!

My cousin died of muscular dystrophy around 14 years ago , coming from a small family it was a devasting experience that lasted 20 years, I remember at the time my auntie told me the federal government contribution to find a cure was around $50,000 lousy bucks a year, I hope that's changed I know Darren Bennets son also suffers from it it's horrendous disease that holds no prisoners my cousin lasted to the age of 22 and that's a fair lifespan from someone suffering it, well done Christain your all class.

I went to school with kids who had MD

Watched them slowly die...

none made it past 20...

And to think Petracca failed numerous of Psych tests and put clubs off through his personality LOL

Well done to Petracca and co for doing what they did. Amazing stuff

As far as I know, the concerns raised by the Psych tests were more along the lines of whether he could adapt to the professionalism required.ย  Why do you think the club came down so hard on him for the slam dunk?ย  He's a great guy, extroverted, energetic, but they worry that he doesn't really get how seriously he has to take the AFL and his training and preparation.ย  It's something they mentioned in several of the articles this week, that he's drastically improved in this area and is showing a much more mature and professional attitude after his rehab.ย

Just like any Hogan thread really

Beautiful story of compassion from the Trac. Just another reason to wish this kid every success in the future.

I havnt heard any depth into these rumours about the psych tests, could it be the saints doing to take some pressure off them picking Mccartin?

Funny you should mention that. I scrolled over saintsational the other day because they have a petracca thread going. It is rumoured he did fail his psych at the saints, and found him to be overly confident and brash.ย

Pretty sure barassi would have also failed such tests.....

I'll tell you one thing. I'd rather someone with personality and flair in a football club than a robot like Jack Grimes.

Why use a (sort of) positive thread about one player on our list to take an unprovoked personal swipe at another player who has nothing to do with the topic at hand? Rubbish post.

Not to mention that said person is one of the finest and most unselfish Demonsย we've had on our list in 40 years, who would never have envisaged the turmoil he'd experience the day his name was called out.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
