Ok, my stay has been extended due to the open training session being on Thursday morning at Gosch's ...

Will be driving back to Adelaide once training has finished and my son hopefully gets Jayden Hunt to sign his new number 29 guernsey...

Parking suggestions most welcome.

Usually enough free 2 or 3 hour parks up the hill of Anderson St South Yarra, next to the Botanic Gardens. 200m walk down the hill and across the river and freeway on the bridge at the bottom of the street and you're there.

Otherwise it's 80 c per hour (or was in case it's changed) to park in Alexandra Ave at pretty much the same point and walk across if paying a couple of bucks saves the walk up or down the hill.

Things that may only interest me - Last year the boys did quite a bit of Anderson St hill sprinting, something to keep in mind if you park there. Not fun. And last time I was there I saw Thanasi Kokkinakis doing the same.

This may help...

I havent't been to training this season, but assume the parking situation is the same/similar...

I walked past at the end of training. The senior players had left and the Casey squad were still going. Brayshaw was with the Casey group.

Makes sense thsi week I think.

Oliver and M Jones with Casey group as well

Thanks.

Looks like it might just be Petracca for Brayshaw.  Unless, of course, Oliver is getting a bit of extra work, because he had the weekend off.

Although resting Brayshaw is the obvious "out", it seems a shame that he will have to watch on from the sidelines whilst his mate Petracca debuts.

I counted 22 doing the goal kicking at the MCG end, looked like the entire AFL squad, with only one different from last Sunday night. Casey boys doing competitive stuff at other end, Brayshaw, M Jones, Oliver included.

Trengove with Casey?

Hate to see Oliver out of the team for a second week in a row.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if we only saw one change from the squad.

It's such a short turnaround and there'd have to be sore bodies and it just increases the risk of injury if sore bodies continue playing.

Can easily see any of Oliver/ANB/Matt Jones/Trengove come in this week. Although I think the Trengove inclusion is unlikely.

We are in a good position with players, where with the 6 day turn around, we could rest a couple of players, bringing in some fresh legs. If we don't cop a lot of injuries, this practice can continue and help to keep the squad a bit fresher. It also keeps the pressure on performance, with players ready to come into the side.

Very relaxed session from what I saw. CP5 was up and about and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face. The kid is a massive unit with calves on him like tree trunks. Skills weren't at their best even though the conditions were reasonably good. Plenty of joking and mucking about amongst the group which is nice to see. Watts, Hoges and Frost were all put through a drill by Rawlings. One on one with a quick push off and  then running back toward goal and into space. Hoges was a standout at this. It was good to see Dawes back and participating in match sims, although to be honest he did look to be blowing pretty hard at the end of the sims and looks to be quite a few weeks off match fitness. Towards the end of the main  session a bunch of the guys went head to head in a goal kicking contest from acute angles. As has been mentioned the Casey guys stayed out and continued with match sims. Given the light nature of todays session I wouldn't read to much into either Oliver or Matt Jones being amongst that group. Took some photos of todays session.

As Redleg says above, given the the 6 day turnaround, the guys need to be freshened up.

Salem and Wagner are two who looked a bit sore down back, but if they are right you probably play them, or at least 1 of them. Hunt is young but has only played 2 games at the top level, he shouldn't be too fatigued.

Sounds like Brayshaw is out but the rest of the midfield and forward group are mostly 4th year + and hopefully can cope with a quick back up.

I'd certainly have Matt Jones and Oliver ready for anyone sore but from the way we finished the Richmond game I'm not sure anyone will be putting their hand up for a rest.

I want him back in but I think the club were smart to rest Clarry when they did. Better a week early than a week late.

I know some posters have had a crack at Dave Mission and the fitness staff at times on here, but hats off to them this year! we have what 2-3 genuinely injured players? JKH, King and Vanders is sort of injured sort of having a break?

How many teams enter round 6 with say 41 of 44 players basically ready to go?

bloody good position to be in

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
