North aren't slow anymore, maybe in 2013 they were and that's what you're thinking.

Ummmm we beat the Dogs by 6 goals in round 8 last year too champ.

Hogan has shown he can roam up the ground and with an improving tank he will do it even more.

Stuie,

Did you see Lloyd's assessment on FC last night?

He listed 3 quick players.  One is nearly 40 years of age.  Another lucky to get a game.  The other, a no-name.

Does Demonland have a hall-of-shame?

If not, can someone cut and paste my thread from ology.

Wow. You went back 6 months to quote me saying Hogan can roam the ground (fact), we'd beaten the Dogs (fact) and North aren't that slow (you can argue that one if you like, but they did make the 8). What exactly is the point in this ridiculous bump? To promote that you have a thread on Demonland's annoying little brother? Top shelf stuff.

Matthews is a dinosaur that has been so out of touch with the game for the best part of a decade that he's barely even worth talking about. Didn't he also question Hogan's agility? The bloke's a blithering idiot nowadays. He was a fantastic player and he was a fantastic coach, but it's been a long time since he's been relevant.

He was also a brainless thug who punched other players in the face/jaw. He was once charged by the police for an on field assault.

Matthews and his mates on 7 are a disgrace-  pretty sure they only watch the games they are working at .

You probably don't want to hear this but he was way more than that.

He was a very good player.

A very good coach, premierships at two different clubs proves that beyond doubt.

Great player, premiership coach but very average football commentator.

It's obvious he doesn't do his homework, the call of unusual when he noticed Watts in the ruck towards the end of the season was a classic.

Lethal Leigh was as you stated a great player and astute coach, the record doesn't lie. But he was also the biggest coward I ever saw take too the field. I could never quite understand how someone so talented could resort to such gutless thuggery. I once saw him knock Peter Giles unconscious with a king hit from behind well and truly away from the play. It was the most cowardly thing I have ever seen on a football ground. When several MFC players took umbrage with Mathews not one Hawthorn player came to help him. I believe I have heard him say that he is embarrassed and ashamed of some of the things he did on a football ground, i'm not surprised, and don't get me started on what he did to Steven Smith.

I have zero respect for Matthews. Zero.

Number 6 there in the second clip.
If ya got something to say , don't be a little biatch and run away.
Reminds me of when Dunn gave Chapman the cheap little rib tickler and then nearly wet himself when Chapman retaliated.

Not one of my favourites, I don't think Peter Giles and Stephen Smith enjoyed being taken out behind the play either, Lethal became an expert at taking out a player who was beating him. Still baffles me he how he got a statue at the " G" when he faced criminal charges for an incident on the football field.

Aha this is juvenile. I like it.

but I rate Hogans ability to move up the ground, similar to Riewoldts (nick). With some other targets to kick too, hopefully he does it more

Not to be too picky and i tend to agree on the above. Just not sure if he runs back the other way quite as well at this point

Diamond you may wish to add a few words at the end of that sentence ...... "face/jaw, from behind or when they weren't looking"

While I don't pertically like Mathews      These king hits were common place in the era that Mathews played

He certainly wasn't the only one hitting blokes from behind.

Just saying,     I remember the VFA Grand final between Port Melb and Dandenong,    King hits everywhere and if you had concussion you just got up and played on.

I repeat myself from other posts, however:

Those of us who witnessed Hogan's year at Casey will remember much of his time was spent not just at full forward or parked within the 50 meter ark but roaming like a follower. And this has continued into his AFL career. He seems not to be the person who wishes to always be close to goals. I frankly despise Matthews as I saw the Gilles and Smith incidents at the time and have always loathed dirty (as opposed to rough) play. His original take on Hogan was absurdly uninformed.

He appears to be a commentator who under prepares and one not to be taken seriously.

Worst commentator ever. Just makes it up as he goes.

lots of punching but Matthews' work on Bews, Giles and Smith was in a class of its own. prob. the worst was O'Dea taking out the brilliant John Greening. Matthews' conduct was enough to make me hate hawthorn for decades.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
