After NAB 1 and 2 I thought that, but I think his performance in NAB 3 (which I thought was quite solid) has put him right in the picture to play.  I really didn't think he would be to AFL standard for the first half of the season, but I think things are looking good for him to debut this weekend.

I think he offers some real creativity and vision off half back, and I have a feeling he is playing the role the coaches give him very well.

All 3 NAB games and being part of the 18 running through match day scenarios on the eve of the season start?  I think he's very likely.

It'll be a great half back line this week with Hunt, Oscar McDonald & Wagner

Unfortunately we are without car (flying down), so Casey may be a bridge too far. Will put it to the boy depending on what public transport options are like.

Thanks for the report Spencer.  The info re: the 18 who were doing some of the main drills was very interesting indeed.  It doesn't mean all of them will get picked, as there were some very handy players who didn't take part, but it gives us a pretty clear idea as to who will be playing come Saturday.

I'll touch wood as I write this as well, but it's also terrific to see our injury list is pretty small for this time of the year.  Three wins and a small injury list is a great way to roll into Round 1!

Fantastico!!  Thanks for that info... do you happen to know what the kick off time might be? (I should probably look it up myself I suppose)

Saty, do you have any idea what time the Casey match at Goschs will kick off?  I did a quick search of the MelbourneFC site and couldn't find anything.

Thanks for asking...he's started running (but the shock of that gave him a touch of bursitis) and he had his first kick last Thursday...so coming along very nicely. He should be able to resume full training late April or early May.

Nah, when we're in Melbourne we always walk from the city to Goschs...it's quite a pleasant stroll along the Yarra.

I was down there for an hour or so.

Salem is still protecting his finger and not training at 100%, someone would have to be on stand-by, it must have been a fairly serious injury for him to carry it into a second week, and he will need to pass a fitness test later this week.

Also Oliver had a minor twinge in his lower calf by the end of the session. I would suggest it is very minor but given he is still a kid they may choose to rest him, not sure. They may choose to ease him off and re-hab him for a week, but if he doesn't play for the firsts I doubt if he'll play at Casey.

You guys are nailing these Jesus jokes.

I think it's time I intervened. You are being very naughty boys. We are about to witness the resurrection of the MFC and all you boys can do is make silly puns. Stop it now or the mighty one will smite you to the ground and send you to bed without your dinner.

Now go and say three Hail Vineys and let's hear no more of this.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
