Essendon can get stuffed.

They shouldn't be getting top up players

They shouldn't even be in the competition on the back of the fact that 34 of 46 players are guilty of doping.

Putting the Essendon situation aside I think there is some merit in a player loan system throughout the season if both teams consent. It could give our players senior AFL games to fast track their development and give us access to players from other teams to cover injuries.

Player loan system

I think they have this in some overseas sports.

Might work with the Essendon situation.

We could lend them someone like Terls who might struggle to get a game with us but would be useful at Bomberland.

No, not as a regular home & away loan system.   no...  as a one off because they lost half their list, OK as a one off.

what happens when the player on loan does his knee in round 21?

I'm looking forward to some monumental losses by Essendon, hopefully starting in round 2. I'm hoping for a non-competitive team of mercenaries jumping sideways to avoid contact and giving us all great comic relief after the crap they've dealt the comp over the last three years, led by that great clown prince Goddard. Watching Goddard walk off dejected after each loss will be great viewing for the more sadistic amongst us, of which I'm one.

So no, Terlich is too good for them I say.

This is a great idea, after 22 rounds Terlich MIGHT start hitting targets - or maybe not. Also I don't think Essendon are that stupid with Worsfold in charge.

Silly idea.

Players not getting games can be traded or delisted and picked up as a free agents at the end of the year. Even contracted players manage to force trades if they are starved for opportunity.

Loaning makes sense in soccer because there's so many levels of talent and big teams sign more talent than they can develop and hence send them to lower levels.

AFL lists are 44 players, 22 get a game each week. Teams usually have at least a few long term and a few short term injuries from the best 30 or so players at any one stage. The point is if you're in the best 30 players you are likely to get opportunities. If you are in the bottom 10 players on any list you are most likely either a young kid still physically maturing or an experienced depth player. There's only a small group of players who are ever truly missing out on opportunities, it would be silly to start shipping those types from club to club.

I think in this solution it has some merit but only if the club lending the player gets to chose who the player is. Have it as a raffle for the top up players. The 17 non cheating clubs go in a draw and 12 are selected out. Each of these 12 can chose any player off their list and they go to the bombers. All wages, moving, and accommodation cost are to be borne by the EFC.

The players may hate the idea but they would be getting senior games experience and he chance to show their wares. I would also love to see the Dons running around with the worst player from 12 other lists, would be a weekly blood bath. It also means they cant chose for position either, they may end up with no rucks, or no backs etc. Would be hilarious watching them try and play. They would end up with probably a worse them than with the top ups they are going to use who are all just retired previously best 22 (or near to) from other clubs.

Bring it on!

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
