i just want to see him out on the park first and foremost.

It's interesting that they might be thinking of him more as a deep-lying forward as opposed to one who pushes up the ground, or even as part of the midfield rotations. hopefully that will come, as i definitely don't want him to solely be a forward - we need him to a bursting away from the packs mid as he was in his last underage year.

...."A 2010 study published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine found that only 63 percent of NFL athletes who had an ACL reconstruction returned to play another game. Roughly two out of three. And two years after ACL surgery, Andrews said, about 55 percent of NFL players are no longer playing in the league. For the majority, an ACL still is pretty synonymous with the end of a career."*

Just happy to see him back on the park. Fingers crossed and hope he has an "Adrian Peterson" like comeback!

Petracca, who was also playing his first match after having his debut season wiped out by a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury, showed exactly why there are such big wraps on him.

The No.2 pick from the 2014 NAB AFL Draft was the best player on the field by a fair margin, displaying his renowned power off the mark and supreme confidence to take the game on.

The resurrection of a former captain's career took another positive step, while a Christian starred on Good Friday as several high-profile Melbourne players took to the field at Gosch's Paddock.

While Trengove was the feelgood story, Demons supporters should be even more encouraged by the showing of another No. 2 draft pick: Christian Petracca. The 20-year-old starred during the session, with his run and carry a feature. Y

Christian Petracca looked sensational during Casey's intraclub match. The kid can seriously play.

With the likes of  Petracca, Hogan Oliver and already with Viney , Vince and the Bearded one we have not only players that dont fear the opposition but players who actually relish taking them on ( and apart )

This is a very different Melbourne we're seeing emerge

hopefully this will prove correct Blzb,   but lets see the pudding rise first,  before we go off before acceptances.

...  with the thinking of a block of games to gain full fitness & form at Casey,  I like 'Rnd 5' against the Tiges as a comeback game fro Petracca...   & For Trenners,  either Rnd 4 or 5 for his comeback.  Trenners already has the experience, knowledge & composure to be of benefit to the team against the Pies.

Trac may be shy in his first game?  so start off in Rnd 5 (Tigers),  Rnd 6 (Saints),  Rnd 7 (Suns),  Rnd 8 (Bulldoggies). Rnd 9 (Lions), Rnd 10 (Port)...  I think this is a very good run in to his AFL career.

Last year Gus was expected to play a few games at Casey, but then he kicked the door down.  I think we're going to see a repeat.

this year Gus is having to find fitness & form at Casey,  yet Oliver is the one doing the kicking of doors.

whilst the Tractor is serving penance & finding fitness at Casey.  Form unproven as yet,  apart from todays hit & giggle.

His isn't doing penance, he is simply getting fit to the standard required by the very professional people at the club who are in charge of these things.

yes,  but he will have to do more after his indiscretion.  & with so many players coming into contention around the same time of season,  it won't be easy to get a first game 'gig', if you know what I mean.

he will have to bust the door down at Casey for a period.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
