From what i've heard the club is really keen to sign a big name player this off season if at all possible, obviously Hibberd is a good player but i reckon we'd be keen on one of Prestia, Mitchell, Hurley, Crouch and i wouldn't be surprised if offers are ramped up a notch in the coming weeks to see what we can get over the line, i suspect a lot of this depends on what the Mcdonald brothers decide to do, i think re-signing those two would be more significant than signing say a Dion Prestia.

Pretty sure Crouch is staying put.

OMeara's a bust.  And Prestia a conman...must be to suck the Toiges in for that sort of coin. They obviously deserve each other !!

Hibberd seems ours apparently..who knows

I think there's a Smokey out there.... someone will ask to be traded to us.

I don't think we are quite a destination club yet but a smart player would consider us. We're going up ;)

Strong word around the traps is that Prestia has committed to a Tigers on $3.5m over 5.

I loathe that players can basically say 'trade me to x' and it's a given that it'll happen.

What's your opinion about that?

I reckon it is major overs. $700k for 5 years for a 175cm midfielder who is a really good player but I wouldn't put him in the top echelon of midfielders which is what that pay packet represents. I wouldn't think we'd pay that for him even if he wanted to come to us. Where does that leave the rest of your list.  Is he better than what Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Petracca are going to be. You couldn't pay all of them that sort of money.

They were one of the front runners for Dangerfield last year too, I recall.

Hawks are just the easy one to spruik, because it's believable.

It used to be Collingwood that were tied to every player that was rumoured to be leaving their club, they're not anymore because everyone knows that nobody wants to go to Collimgwood.

Don't know about that. Treloar, Aish and Howe wasn't too bad last trade period.

Helped the Pies a lot.  They have less wins and are lower on the ladder with them.

And basically have to sit out this year's draft as a result.

Treloar was a good pick up Aish hasn't set the World on fire and we pushed Howe out the door, I don't consider that great.

True. And don't we love it. However you can't blame those players. Treloar has been their best player. Aish is working his way into reaching his very high potential. And as we all know Howe is a gun........forward!

Go to a dictionary. Look up the word sarcasm

There was no sarcasm. The joke was about Howe being played in the wrong place implying he is a gun in the forward line. I don't see how including other true statements about not blaming the players and Treloar being their best could also be included as sarcasm?

Thanks binman, you can but try. Punctuation seems to be a wasted tool.

bub i'm surprised at you. don't believe what you read and hear. trade whispers are all about bs, remember how much howe was reported as wanted/offered and frawley and many others. i take all the talk whether, money, which clubs, reasons for going etc with a grain of salt

Geeez its "great" to see Jaeger out running around looking like a rolls Royce, no knee issues at all.. AFL at its best...

I wonder how long ago the Hawks told Jaeger to put the cue in the rack and work on his rehab.  12 months ago or longer.

I'm one of O'Meara's biggest fans, but understandably he's just going tonight.

Was great to see him back out on the field and there were signs of his class, but I think you're right and he will take a while to get near his best.
