The Big American looks alright and surely must be a chance for a rookie pick? He played with Carlton VFL so likely to be picked up by them.

A massive unit at 199cm and 107kgs very strong and good below the knees for a ruck. I like taking chances with tall players.

Not very coordinated. Undersized for a ruck and under skilled for any other position on the ground.

Funny..was a bit bored and got to reading.

Hes sorta interesting.

For a lad who hasn't grown up playing it he's cottoned on quite well. Kicking needs work but he can ruck.

Be unlucky not to be rookied by someone. A lot of upside there.

Doesnt get moved off ball much. Bloody solid unit.

Given the limitations of highlight packages in general he certainly looks a tough nut and has some handy skills for someone so big and new to the game.

Looks to ruck OK (at that level).

One comment re the highlights package: great work whoever put it out highlighting the subject player. So many highlights packages don't ever identify the subject, and if you don't know who to look for can take some time to work out.

IMO he would be possibly quite high potential gain, low risk as a rookie (depending of course if AvdB has a twin brother hiding somewhere).

How long has he been playing AFL?

since Friday last year I think....

A club with a spare rookie spot could do worse. Hes desperate to play footy. So many still arrive after drafting thinking they've made it...then..

This bloke wont leave anyone let himself guessing .

Interesting.

Problem is he can't be listed as a 'B' rookie as he played VFL.

That seems somewhat unfair and against the idea of the rules to draw more athletes in to the sport from other codes.

Should at least be allowed a trial amount of games.

Cons:

- Can't kick

- Can't mark

- Doesn't look like he has speed or agility

- Can't really jump

- Not overly tall

Pros;

- Strong

- Committed

- Physical

Overall I think he just doesn't have it athletically. The only centre square ruck contests he wins in that video are against a Box Hill back up who's a key defender. It's nice that he can tackle, but that's not really a core skill for a ruckman. How many AFL midfielders is he going to be able to run down?

Actually. .can mark.. better than so so ruck.

Kicking....hmm

Not saying for us. Gws should rookie him

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
