I don't know why the MCC members, the ones who fork out the most every year to see the Dees play, are considered to be the least knowledgeable supporters

There's an obvious level of commitment/dedication there, simply by virtue of the cash you have to fork out

Maybe it's their sense of humour we should worry about.

I'm also in there when I get down there. Sense of humour?

Not sure about any angst towards the MCC.

What's wrong with good dental health, and a decent fashion sense?

Just smiled at the thought of Clarry deciding to get on here and have a quick look at what Demonlander's are saying about him and his response. WTF!!!!

C&B in the MCC it will inevitably be "Jordie Mckenzie" or "Number 13" for  the first half of the year.

First half of the year ????? I still think no. 14 is Barry Bourke.

And I'm in the MCC too.

I've read these forums long enough to know there is a contingent of 'supporters' who hide behind a 'sense of humour' to mask a genuine chip on their shoulder. I don't appreciate being labelled by some prat with an inferiority complex as fairweather/non-knowledgeable when I fork out 4 times what the average joe does to support the dees and I rarely miss a game and there isn't much about the club I don't know.

Just purely out of curiosity and not to continue the debate, do you also get a Melbourne membership?

Considering MCC does not increase our member tally is all.

I get both an MCC and reserved seats for Melbourne games, MCC is more for other events at the G but would probably give that up ahead of my Melbourne membership.

Im real excited for Clayton Oliver, was a real big fan early on and his competitiveness was what won me over, but his ability in stoppages was what caught my attention. I wonder how this translates as an 18 year old as obviously he will be playing against much more seasoned players. In terms of his decision making and vision this shouldn't be affected but possibly his ability to draw tacklers and stand up in them may take a hit

You've become a bitter old man way too early, Stak. Cheer up mate, we haven't even lost a game yet.

In fairness Stakk, I would think that you are preaching to the converted here. The die hard Dee.

If all of us had the coin, we would be slobbering our beers all over you in the MCC members also. Im not so sure you can make it a simple debate of "I pay more for my membership, therefore I'm the better and more knowledgeable member".

I'm not in the camp that thinks the MCC members are pretend members, but spare a thought for those of us who cant afford the same cash that you can please. We care just the same, even if we drink a goon sack, while you sip MOET.

You know SWYL, having shared a few beers with you during the broadcast of a game, and sampled your fiery (passionate) disposition when the Dees play, I never pegged you as a MCC member.

Never judge a book hey....

yes I do, and it's a pure donation like the vast majority of MCC members give. This is in addition to the million that the MCC gives the club each year just for the hell of it

how do you know I'm not on exactly the same coin as you but just stretch further to pay my MCC dues? I'm not the one generalising, you will notice I am the one PROTESTING against the poster who made a generalisation.. joking or not there are some chippy shoulders here no doubt

I don't, I'm presuming Stak.

Can you advise how much an MCC membership is please?

570 or something.. goes up every year because they have carte-blanche to just charge whatever they want because its not like you can just go elsewhere for their produc,t and if you leave there is 200,000 waiting to take your place. Their profits must be amazing.

Ahhh, ok. Thanks for that.

I'm in the group that will fork out that amount for Trident or whatever membership once we look like regular finalists, but I certainly wouldn't do it now, considering the extra memberships I buy for family each year. (I'm not on speaking terms with 2 of them).

Oh, by the way, Clayton Oliver looks like he might be a good player for us.

One could, reading the last few pages, easily forget that this is a Clayton Oliver thread.

Mods - how about setting up a pinned "personal abuse and bickering" thread?

I am an MCC member but also get the MFC membership to support the footy club.  The way I see it the club needs my membership and I give the MCC membership a flogging during the summer.  Big Bash, test match and ODIs for me and the young fellow add up to a heap of attendance.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
