Underrated post.

There's a distinct difference though, between Parish & Toumpas.

Toumpas is an outside runner, his bread & butter is getting on the end of handball receives and looseballs.

The pressure has made him crumble and make poor decisions.

Parish looks to win contested footy and uses it so quickly.

He does the opposite of crumbling under the pressure; he anticipates it, makes quick decisions accordingly and EXECUTES.

Even look at the highlights of the 2 pre-draft.

Toumpas was running fast unattended on the wing, kicking long range goals.

Nearly every "highlight" was a looseball get.

I don't argue that he was a hard runner for us, but he never displayed a willingness to get involved in the hot contest as a junior.

Parish mostly gets his footy in close in his highlights, moves quickly, makes quick decisions, absorbs pressure, hits targets without panicking.

Big contrast to my eyes.

    I meant it was underrated for it's comedic value, the post made no comparison between Toumpas and Parish.

    I thought it was a sarcastic assertion that Toumpas provided exactly what we'd be likely to receive from Parish, and your agreement.

    Clayton Oliver averaged 14 contested touches in the TAC cup

    Parish averaged 13 and 16 uncontested, and was infinitely more damaging on the outside, he's a match winner.

    plus he's done it 2 years in a row, Oliver has only really had a good half a season, at least Wines had a body of work behind him.

    McKenzie was a competitor.

    Yes a beast competitor like Oliver who is skilled, tackles and kicks goals.

    Parish is good but Oliver is better.

    So Parish 2 time AA v Oliver didn't play a game for Vic Country.

    That's a big call..

    Mckenzie hardly played TAC cup due to a major hip surgery.

    I'm not making any comparisons, just saying that McKenzie was a competitor. I don't think that can be denied.

    Wines is much more than a competitor, Oliver may or may not be, McKenzie was pretty much only a competitor.

    If we take Oliver, being a competitor will only be one part of the reason...

    Oliver is strong over the ball but can't or doesn't kick on his left.

    When confronted and forced to use his left he will try and twist and turn out of traffic to get onto his right or get away a handball.

    It worked fine for him in the TAC cup as he can monster over other teens but I question how well he can keep it up against men, and how at times it may slow down or impair a set play.
