WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

Featured Replies

Then pick 3 to GWS and a bucket full of dosh to Treloar. Money talks.

Thus this trade/draft period we might come out with Treloar, Ben Kennedy, Milkshake (for 2nd round pick), late second rounder for Toumpas, possibly a second rounder if Watts is traded. Use two second rounders and a third rounder in draft. If believed good enough, Jake Lovett as F/S late pick or rookie.

Or even better, we use Pick 3 on Darcy Parish just to 5hit Essendon off!

How convenient that Collingwood would reject whatever we're offering for Kennedy thus far. Standard negotiating tactic of theirs so that once Howe nominates them, they can instantly suggest a straight swap.

Still hope we can get Kennedy. Maybe our 3rd round pick 45 is a little low, but if the rumor about us picking up Fremantle's 2nd round pick 35 as part of a Howe deal to Gold Coast are true, then surely that should be enough for Kennedy.

they can suggest all they wish. I have a few suggestions for them as it happens !!

Collingwood acquaintance says that they view Kennedy like we view Toumpas.

So people are saying Howe & 6 for 3 & 35 (the Bennell pick)

Can we please have 3 and Bennell instead?

With Elliott, Broomhead and Fasolo as small forwards and then Adams, Sidebottom, De Goey and Varcoe as rotating mid/forwards, I think it's pretty obvious as to why Kennedy has had such little opportunity.

It's a good thing really, he's developed well and played some really consistent VFL footy this year. He had a really good run of games in the VFL in which he was averaging around the 30 possession mark and we know he uses the ball really well and is dangerous around goals. Pretty good signs from a small forward if you ask me. To have someone who can find the ball and be damaging with it is something we haven't seen much of at the Dees.

He's another smart target by our recruiting team.

I see Kent as being more of a traditional high forward flanker with his hard running and penetrating kick.

Kennedy, JKH and Garlett as stay at home small forwards with the ability to have stints in the middle.

The rumour is that GC will give us pick 3 & steak knives(perhaps the Bennell pick) for Howe & pick 6. We then on trade the pick to Collonwood for Kennedy or the like hypothetically.

Thanks for clarifying

Correct me if wrong but Kennedy is just steak knives at best ??

Not a priority for rmine then...Must be others around with better trade scenarios

I bought a steam cleaner from one of those buy now and get these steak knives ads and the steam cleaner is shyt (never used) and the steak knives still get used (also shyt)

I hope that clarifies things.

True Mandee...still have steak knives myself. I like steak.

Hmmmm

Difficult when Bennell nominates Fremantle as the team he wants to go to.

If Collingwood won't accept a third round pick for Kennedy, then we move on. There are plenty more (small) fish in the sea, so we don't need to bend over backwards for clubs who routinely overvalue their players. Kennedy's career averages are 11 possessions, half a goal and under 2 tackles a game - pretty similar to JKH really. Hardly someone we should be getting giddy over.

Or we should offer them Toump.

As Mahoney said on Monday, Toump isn't set on returning to SA. Just another club should help give him the fresh air he needs.

I think Collingwood will accept a 3rd round towards the end of the trade period.

He isnt a small forward.

He plays midfield at Vfl level and Buckley plays him as a small forward by Buckley when promoted to AFL level. This is why he is stagnating.

Just because he is small doesnt mean he is a small forward.

Toumpas > Port Adelaide

Moore > Collingwood

Kennedy > Melbourne

No squabbling over picks involved!

Collingwood have come out and said they are not interested in the Port boys. If we want Kennedy we need to come at them with a good deal. They know Freeman and Seedsman are gone but havent lost hope in keeping Kennedy. Ball is in our court.

Pick 35 I hope gets it done.

A packet of crisps and a Gold Lame Jacket would be my starting point !!

Play their game right back at them.

Collingwood are very obviously angling for Howe-Kennedy. If they go that direction we should be hitting them up for Kennedy + a first round pick for Howe + third or thereabouts. The fact is that Howe is worth a hell of a lot more than Kennedy so we might as well aim high with him. It gives us a lot of room to work and give some concessions and still get good value.

We just need to do something that rattles The filth. Change the trading field.

They think they have us....change it !!!

Too true.

Stuff them - if they play hardball, stuff them again.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
