GAME DAY - Round 19

Featured Replies

Well done Howe..

Dawes set shot from 45 out, slight angle.

Missed.

58 to 34

Damn that was nice play from the former Magpies. Lamumba turned his man and had two bounces running from HB, Dawes ran back towards the square then turned and led back at him. Beautiful connection, pity he missed the shot.

So I assume cross is going to get faster as the game goes on so that he can keep up with Boomer!

Scott Thompson u r a wenker.

Talk about heart in mouth...

Watts goal from 10 meters out after nice spot up from Hogan.

58 plays 40.

We are actually making a game of it. Very un-Melbourne like and i am loving it.

Good strong mark from Watts and good goal.

Makes up for your stuff up at the other end.

This is free kick city from North inside our attacking 50. Getting us right back in it.

This represents a point of difference from the past. Before we would be looking at a 100+ defeat. Showing some guts to fight back.

We must offer Hogan the keys to Fort Knox to make him a forever Dee.

Great answering quarter Dees...

Pressure requires no skill or talent, it's purely if a player can be bothered or not as it is a conscious decision.

In the first quarter Melbourne chose not to apply pressure, in the second they did.

half time and the score is 58 to 40 Norths way.

Inside 50's that qtr were 8 to 2 our way. Much better pressure and intensity at the ball (And oppo player)

We are right in this at the moment.

After that first quarter i think we are all in shock that we are in the game at half time

Good quarter that

Good quarter for us. Need to come out after half time though. Someone tell Jones and Vince to wake up!!!

3 goals down - right in it now. Injuries to Brown and Hansen.Give it a shake boys

So after all that, we are just 3 goals down at half-time. Colour me impressed.

Didn't go to bed. Let's see if we are just allergic to kicking to the left of screen

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
