Jaeger is an interesting case. Could be a brownlow medallist or retired in 3 years time depending on how his knees hold up. He is an amazing talent, but you have to wonder about his knees.

I'm willing to take a risk. If Howe is heading there anyway, maybe send a few picks along with him and gamble on Jaeger's knees coming good.

Send him to the Richmond doctor first before agreeing to a trade.

If GC consider trading him, his knee must be totally f##ked.

maybe not so, mo64...

it could be he wants out, from the way the clubs turned out with the issues about. plenty of players at the suns have gone backwards this year... & the coach was sent packing last season.

new coach, new broom, & has to treat the list to get it sorted... if they think they need a styrong injection of mature straight players, to build culture, then we've got the straightest arrows in the quiver.

dear Rocket,,, have We got a deal for you !!!

Almost everyone knows if he stands up he will be one of the premier players of his generation. Can he stand up?

We would be mad not to go after him if we think he's up to it.

Edit: Imagine him with Brayshaw, Tyson, Viney, Hogan & Petracca...

He's undoubtedly worth the punt.

If all goes well, he recovers from injury and becomes the bona fide champion that everyone thinks he is. If all goes badly, he's cruelled by injury and has minimal impact.

What's the opportunity cost? Our first draft pick this year (pick 6ish) will probably get it done. Chances are we draft another limited player like Toumpas or Watts anyway, or that draft pick himself gets injured (ala Trengove/Petracca).

Even if Pick 6 is not a spud AND stays healthy, there is no chance that we could develop him to be anywhere even remotely as good as O'Meara might be.

Point is - the potentially benefit far exceeds the cost. Get it done.

And Jaeger is back in the media. Buying a house in St Kilda and wants to head to a big city to work on life post football.

Articles says that he will probably see through his contract but then it will be on for young and old. While I am still a big fan of Curnow, first rounder this year + first rounder next year and Howe, for Jaeger and something else (maybe their second this year or next year?). If he is even an option we have to get up to our eyeballs in this.

Not with Taylor doing the picking imo.

I really think we'd be better off waiting til next year for an aggressive approach at JOM. Yes he might come good, play a great season and the team push back towards the 8 and he signs a long term deal, but with his injuries I'd think he'd be a huge risk this year.

How many games do we need to win to be a destination club? Brisbane had a hot finish to the year last year, won 7 games and signed Beams and Christensen. But they both wanted to get to Brisbane (the city). Victoria is obviously a more competitive market.

The Pies won 10 games this year and have attracted Treloar, although they beat out Richmond, as well as North who have won more (with a much older list).

The Dogs mega trade for Boyd is looking foolish considering they might've got pick 4 and 6 instead and drafted more young talent on an already impressive list and had the million a year spare to find the key forward at some other stage. That said, maybe landing Boyd was a big boost for club morale.

I still lean towards keeping picks and sticking to drafting and developing until we find the guy who wants to come to us not someone we've chased with a huge offer.

Big rumour that Pies have Kreuzer done to go along with Treloar. Witts may end up part of the Treloar deal.

That is the real fear.

not necessarily,, if he's adamant he wants out. the AFL will be all over what happening there, & will be keeping their 'eyes fixed', on fixing Us, the Suns, & Lions, & of course Fitz's bluecaps.

if JO'M wants to leave they'll want a suitable trade, & if he has ongoing knee issues, then his price has dropped from 2 years back.

Remember the Suns have gone off rails, no big deal for a baby club (not entrenched), but Rocket has his job ahead of him & having enough changes to that list is imperative,,, to make that culture move, & for the better.

..... fresh heads, & mature clean heads, are crucial, to hold a correct culture line.

the Suns have now shown they are behind the Giants, who grew well whilst under Sheedy's gaze.

........ would love Prestia & JO'M from the Suns, & Plowman, Patton, Tomlinson, would be of serious interest.

Really don't understand why they want Kruezer instead of Witts

They'd probably prefer not, but to secure Treloar it's an acceptable loss.

Plus, in signing Kreuzer they not only pick up their 2nd ruckman for free, they most likely push every other team down the draft order (including GWS who will take the Pies 1st rounder).

Witts is soft, mentally and physically and his best chance of making it is being the number 1 guy, if Mumford goes down he'll get that chance. Kreuzer isn't exactly the most physical ruck around but he's a competitor and whilst Witts is more likely to take a grab I think Kreuzer is more mobile forward. Pretty much Kreuzer is better at staying out of the way forward and provides more energy in the ruck. Plus of course Kreuzer will be free where Witts will make a nice steak knive to go to GWS.

To complete the loop of ruckman swapping around Phillips from GWS will go to Carlton if they lose Kreuzer.

ahh, now I see,,, why the AFL wanted to do away with compensation for F/agents. it also compromises the draft... better they make the salary cap & list numbers reduce, as you climb the ladder, proportionately.

helps with free agency?? & bottom clubs trying to improve. & evening up the competition.

the Oxygen should get rarer, the higher you go.

Heeney?

Probably the 2nd least likely to leave Sydney for Melbourne.

I had a look at the swans list, there's not a lot of depth not getting games.

Hawthorn have Jed Anderson, James Siciliy and Angus Litherland all who would make nice pick ups for Melbourne. Can't see the same thing at Sydney.

Wouldn't Heeney be close to Roos from their time at the academy? I'm sure Watts and our first rounder could be close to getting the deal done if Heeney requests a trade

I'll humour you and ask.... why would Heeney be asking for a trade after just one season with Sydney? Makes zero sense to me.

To play under roos?

To play on the mcg?

To make some cash since Sydney have no salary space?

Not getting on with Longmire?

Heeney will be a lot closer with the rest of the Sydney team and his NSW based family, and I bet he enjoys playing in a top 4 side. He'd be contracted for at least next year and the swans would laugh at pick 6 and Watts. It's not going to Hanners or Franklin who have signed long contracts. Kennedy and Tippett are too old. I doubt Parker would be interested.

I really don't see a lot on the Swans list who would want to come to Melbourne. Zak Jones is the obvious one but I think he's signed a deal and pretty happy up there now.

Jake Lloyd would make sense. Outside mid with some speed and a great kick. Roos got in hot water with the Swans for trying to steal him before.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
