I was watching some old melbourne replays from the late 80's, two members of our cheersquad get alot of tv tme, i remember them well. A middle aged man wearing an 80's light blue hoodie with no.45 stitched on the back and a young tall fellow with blonde spiked hair. I wander what happened to these two, anyone know ?

Wasn't that guy named Hocko?

I think he was in the cheersquad until the late 90's or early 2000s.

Then he appeared to have his own smaller unoffical cheersquad in the olympic stand pocket.

I haven't seem him at the footy for years.

If it's the same blonde guy that I'm thinking of, I still see him regularly at the footy. See him whenever we trave interstate too. Remember the guy with 45 on his back too. Haven't seen him around for quite some time though.

I was in the cheer squad in the 70's - I had no 11 - Greg Wells on the back of my duffle coat.

Can someone please tell me - who was the other person in the cheer squad ?

Was never a member of the cheersquad but bought my one and only dufflecoat in 1985, had 14 Rod Grinter on the back

Hocko and Angelo are the two fellas you mention. I saw hocko at the footy, the last time in 2008. He told me he had sold that 1980s 45 hoodie for a pretty penny. Someone approached him to but it.

Someone actually purchased that jacket?

Apparently his name is Darren Hockey.

Is reported to have got married at a pizza hut on the morning of a game and then attended an MFC game that afternoon.

He was quoted in the below age article, re: Jimmy's funeral.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/all-a-bad-dream-widow-farewells-jim-stynes-at-emotional-melbourne-funeral-20120326-1vvf1.html

Darren 'Hocko' Hocking, a Melbourne Football Club cheer squad member for 35 years, stood with his 12-year-old son Stewart waving goodbye to Stynes with two giant handmade Melbourne flags.

"He was the spirit of football itself," Mr Hocking said.

Mr Hocking, who had gone to Federation Square with his son, wife Elizabeth and nine-year-old daughter Brooke, said he had seen Stynes' first game of football with Melbourne.

"He's made mistakes, corrected them then took us out of debt so we can carry on and that's what we're going to do," he said.

"He is a great loss but he's given us a new vitalisation so that hopefully in a few years we can finally win a grand final."

Probably dead?

Btw does that guy with the big red and blue mohawk still go to the footy??

He sits in the AFL Members.

I remember the guy with the light-blue hoody. I have the "Demon Attack" season review video from 1994 and he's always in the replays. He was cheersquad leader until 2000 I think, or thereabouts. Then when our cheersquad moved to behind the goals he had a small group in the Olympic Stand for a few games, then they disappeared.

I have no idea who the buyer was. But he told me that he was approached by a fan who bought it from him. We used to just refer to him as 'Ricky Jackson'

He was sitting near me at the top of the old Ponsford Stand at the 2000 GF - couldn't believe someone who had sat in the first row for every game since I could remember couldn't get a better seat!
