You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, but a tool nonetheless.

well you finally got one thing right, stuie, but to be correct it's "but a tool and pervert nonetheless"

Et tu dc? An unkind cut if ever there was one. (I think there is a spelling error in that)

I really dont mind Goodes at all.

He is not going to sit around being told what to say by anyone.

He is eloquent without being strident

He and Mundine are not there to appease, which is absolutely fine.

Neither are Spike Lee or Public Enemy or Nina Simone ,Malcolm X etc..

I like their attitude and understand it.

Sen and the footy media are eating their own scrotums to fill in time.

He accused us of having a racist constitution

We do.

Even constitutional conservatives concede s25 (races can be excluded from voting in elections) and 51xxvi (allows government to make special laws for races) should be removed or changed.

He accused all of our ancestors of "rape, murder, theft and slaughter". He accused us of having a racist constitution and that indigenous people in Australia today don't have the opportunities that white people have

Er, not sure which century you are in jnrmac but these are all true, by and large.

Its a shame the constitution still allows idiots the vote but there you Go

Agree. I don't like Adam Goodes and it's not because of race. Frankly the race card crap that is being pedalled is another great example of the ridiculous 'walking on eggshells' approach of our pathetic media.

I am certain there are some elements that attack Goodes because of his race and that is abhorrent. But there are plenty of indigenous players that don't get boo-ed at the footy as there are plenty of white players that get boo-ed like Ballantyne.

Here is a list of reasons why people like me don't like Goodes:

1. He has a history of staging and getting a soft ride from the umps

2. He has had numerous examples of sliding into a contest on his knees and hurting a player on the ground. The tribunal has been pathetic at punishing him for this.

3. He reaction to the 13yo girl was frankly pathetic and smacked of grandstanding. No-one can defend the girl except to say that she was 13. She was named and shamed and it was largely to do with how Goodes handled the matter. It was grandstanding at its worst.

4. The McGuire incident. I'm no McGuire fan and he stuffed up suggesting they get Goodes to help promote Kong. But McGuire bent over backwards to try and right the wrong. Goodes in another show of petulant grandstanding refused to accept the apology

5. The speeches he gave after receiving the Australian of the Year were graceless, divisive, inappropriate, inaccurate and tarnished the good will of the community in having him as our choice for AOTY. It was in total ill-taste and vilified white Australians. He accused all of our ancestors of "rape, murder, theft and slaughter". He accused us of having a racist constitution and that indigenous people in Australia today don't have the opportunities that white people have - clearly ignoring the obvious irony of him being a millionaire football player that has done alright. He could have used the platform to lead and bring people together and urge his fellow indigenous Australians to work with us to help improve indigenous living standards.

I don't like Adam Goodes and it has nothing to do with the colour of his skin.

Wow, you're coming from a looong way back in the pack.

I... nup, can't be bothered. Why don't you just get on back to commenting on The Bolt Report.

Clearly you have some kind of agenda against me because the quote you refer to is entirely general. Once again, if someone on here had called me racist why on earth wouldn't I have quoted them? It was my first post in this thread so why on earth would anyone have even suggested as much without me making a comment in the first place?

It's clearly interpretation. It's your interpretation that I was referring to posters on here and I'm stating for the third time that your interpretation was incorrect, as well as apologising if my initial post was unclear. If you want to get into semantics about grammar then go ahead, but I've cleared up the issue and you're the only person here continuing to argue the point.

You begin a post with the first person singular pronoun and then want to claim that anything following it is 'entirely general'. It's a strange language you speak, but it's obviously not English.

If pointing things like that out is pursuing an 'agenda' I plead guilty.

He pointed out a racist in the crowd. He didn't know her age. I was there that night and the crowd supported his actions.

The balance of power, of everything has been overwhelmingly against the indigenous people of Australia since white people arrived. It will take powerful action to reverse this balance. Eddie McGuire is a complete arseh0le and should never have compared him to an ape. In fact he should have been sacked by the radio station.

One thing for certain....the racists won't fess up on radio or tv. They would have been amongst the crowd booing Goodes, but true to form for racists...they hide behind other excuses. Gutless wonders.

Read all my responses above and after, which are to other people. I'm not going to restate them just for you because you are too lazy to read my posts in the thread.

Not once have you responded to the question asked. If it was as you say then why did the booing only start after he started standing up for Indigenous issues?

You are implying that every single boo he receives, which is literally thousands, are all directed at him because of his race?! Rubbish. Some, perhaps. Most, no. So i guess Ballentine gets booed because he is white? Same with Crowley etc.

Plenty of other indigenous players playing tonight, Yarran, Jetta etc. Are they being booed? No.

Nailed it.

I'm aboriginal, but I think Goodes does look like an ape and I'm not being racist. The trouble with Adam is he is an attention seeker and arrogant and I know him very well.

Yeah, Goodes is just an utter plonker. What a way to quell the media circus by throwing them more peanuts.

Fark now all the commentators are just banging on and on about it, and that just what my Friday night needed, Matthew Richardson's expert analysis on this situation with assistance from the ginger one.

Opps I hope that was not racist.

ginger is fine just don't say ranger!

Perhaps even more relevantly neither were Jack Dempsey or Muhammad Ali and a lot of the same attitudes expressed here were directed against them. More power to Goodes arm

I liked this celebration from Adam. I thought it was pretty cool. I would like to see more goals celebrated with impromptu dance offs in future.

I understand that there is racism at the footy, however i did question the way that situation was handled with that 13yo girl.
He is a big man and people do hurl names at the big key forwards and defenders like gorillas, brutes, etc. The big key forwards are regularly called the gorillas by the players themselves, usually the defenders will refer to the opposition key forwards as the gorillas. I can see how a 13 yo could have innocently called that out, even if she didn't. Who knows.

Anyway, i did think his war dance was odd timing, it is indigenous round however the game wasn't particularly close, i think it was like 54 to 10 or something. If it happened in a tight situation i might not have blinked.

FMD! ..... one more time.....

Calling an Indigenous Australian a monkey or ape is not the same as calling a 6'7" full forward a gorilla, nor the same as calling a redhead Ginger, or someone with big ears Dumbo.

WAClark summed it up well earlier in the thread:

"for those who think that calling someone an ape/monkey is fine/excusable, these sorts of comments have a history, with a lot of old "common science" pointing to the physical traits of indigenous people as being more primitive/less evolved, none of which ever held any water and were essentially authorised racism. When someone says these things, it is a re-application of these horrible views. Ignorance on behalf of the person saying it is not an excuse."

yes but did a 13 yo girl have that motive? she may have, but she also may not have.

apologies ms, if your that sick of responding to this thread, you dont have to...

This reminds me of the booing against Clark in round one. The instant reaction from the media was that apparently the crowd were booing him because he had depression. Similarly, Goodes is apparently booed because of his race.

I'd say the reality of the situation is fairly different. Maybe Clark was booed for what he did to us? Maybe Goodes is booed because of his dirty acts on the field?

Agree with the Clark one, but the 'he was booed on the field because of his dirty acts' is a [censored] argument.

At least 50% Australians are inherently racist, they say they're not but usually start a derogatory sentence with "l'm not racist but......" Goodes IS being booed because of race and his outspoken views about stolen generation and white Australians treatment of indigenous people over 220 years! I reckon he's a great role model for aboriginal kids to stand up and not take the crap and tokenism of white Australians anymore!

agree, Clark was booed because he is seen as a liar and using 'depression' as a way of getting what he wants. Goodes is ten times the person Clark is!!

Michael Long has similar views and also speaks up. Adam Goodes isn't the only one that speaks up, but he is the only one (indigenous) being 'booed'.

I suspect you are right that 50% of Australian's are inherently racist, but I disagree that the only reason Goodes is being booed is due to race.

IMO it has to do with the perception that Goodes is selfish, much like Brent Harvey. Both receive criticism over their selfish behaviour - and this leads to people not liking them.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge.
