Stick with Billy Stretch. He does a lot right. He isn't getting the ball because team mates can't get it to him!

I'd love to drop Howe. But we don't even know if Jetta will be ready and it looks like Salem will be out. Someone has to play half back and I think it may as well be Howe for another week at least.

Guessing a bit with injuries etc, but here's my changes for next week....

OUT: Salem (inj), Howe, Spencer, Toumpas, Dawes, Bail
IN: Riley, Watts, Viney, Jetta, Gawn, Jamar

Out; Watching first halves

In: Look at AirBNB for holiday accomadation

NO! We are in sweet harmony Stuie! FMD.

its strange isn't it lol

Rubbing hands together Ah yes sweeeeeet harmony Now Where do I start?? Eh

I don't know that there'll be that many changes - not exactly a lot of players knocking the door down. Or anywhere near the door.

Spencer will stay in. From the report on the VFL match:

"Mark Jamar struggled throughout and Max Gawn kicked just one goal. Tall utility Jack Fitzpatrick was taken to hospital as a precaution after hurting his neck in the first quarter."

Someone has to come in for Salem, but Hogan will be back, hopefully Jetta. Stretch is a bit out of his depth at the moment, understandably. Roos spoke of tiredness amongst the younger players, especially after 3 heavy weeks against the top sides, so perhaps there'll be some rotations on that basis. Vandenberg and Brayshaw didn't look anything like they did a few games back.

One of vanders or Brayshaw could/should be the sub then. Stretch looks fine to me. Just hard to find the ball as a hard running Melbourne wingman with no ball movement.

Spencer might need to be dropped because of his sheer ineptitude. Another goal line stuff up this week, so he's 2 from 2 in what should be the easiest job a ruckman has.

What dumb stuff you speak. Drop Toump but keep Stretchie. Toump doesn't get enough ball but Stretchies not being fed. Bradshaw gets even less of it. Then again, you would know, just ask.

How did Watts go??

Article on the AFL site mentions that he was solid - Plapp seems to think he'll be there for a couple of weeks, that it isn't just a one-off.

His name is Brayshaw not Bradshaw.

Toump also struggles to get the ball due to the team. Anyone who plays outside midfield or forward in the Melbourne team struggles for opportunity to get the ball.

In my opinion Stretch is getting very little of it but he's using it well, competing really well, he tackles nicely for a little guy. 3 touches in 3 quarters is not a good sign but Toumpas' 11 were no more effective. The dogs are a young team and a young midfield, there should be many more opportunities for Stretch to find the ball and if he does I think he'll use it nicely. I can't say the same for Toumpas.

Last time I looked, 11 is exactly 8 more than 3. D'OH. But keep going.

Roos out, Goodwin in

Roos has been given everything he has requested & open cheque book, result 6 win 23 lose, Neeld 5 win 28 lose.

we were not competitive for the entire 2nd half of last year & beaten by quarter time many times this year.

his recruiting & management have been fine but his coaching is unconnected.

he remains untouchable & beyond criticism by public & media.

Howe's total stats for the past 2 weeks

8 kicks

3 marks

2 tackles

Far koff

Putrid effort drop him!

Bradman is what we need!

I'm starting to think that Goodwin may know more about the modern game than Roos. We do however need to bring in as many big bodied midfielders as we can over the next 2 years so that we can win the ball at clearances. Spencer won his fair share of hit outs but there was nearly always a Hawthorn player on the end of it.

I really hope Roos negative boring game plan doesn't rub off on Goodwin

Anyone criticising Roos either has a very short memory, or zero idea about the modern game.

Was he on the field today? No.

Did he draft or recruit half our list? No.

Did he get us into the mess we're in after years of [censored] drafting and [censored] development? No.

Did he do pretty much everything right from the moment he got in the door, including spending a year teaching players how to defend? Yes.

Is it his fault his players are seemingly incapable of following basic instructions or putting in EFFORT? NO.

I still believe Roos has two main goals before the handover

Teach us to defend and be accountable which were improving at

And get this list in the best shape possible for Goodwin to take it somewhere,

Remember he took over a team that was 2 wins 52% and 8 80 plus point losses in the one season

i haven't seen much defending since the bye last year, who else would be responsible for a side that repeatedly lacks effort?

I would add in delist as many spuds as possible and actually recruit decent players to that as well.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
