Signed! Christian Petracca extends contract until end of 2018.

I honestly can't see why any kid drafted by us would sign on for an extension unless they were a) a die hard Demon fan or b) mentally not right.

Cannot believe this guy's listed at 94kg- that's just insane at 19 and so athletically talented

I'm over six foot six and he weighs more than me. Quite scary.

Looks like this never happened. Maybe he got scared off after the belting on the weekend :(

Be very scared. Either poor journalism running with a story suggesting that an announcement is imminent, or he has backed out. Shocking if the club's PR/media team have got this wrong, given that they are the ones to give stories to the journo's on these things.

Oh come on - these things often get hyped then we hear nothing for a few weeks until it is sorted. A similar thing happened with Hogan's extension if I remember correctly.

and judd is the same height as big nick apparently (heard on radio, haven't bothered to check)

even at the time baldock was at chf it was regarded as exceptional

So if you're good enough then you are big enough.

I think both answers are correct - Would you start him as CHF week in and week out ? No... If you dump the ball long onto his head in a crowded forwarded line - umm no - too small .

However think Jeff Farmer - I can remember times when he was on fire we emptied out the forward line and left him one on one - he was our full forward, centre half forward and small forward.

Petracca ( purely based on his TAC physique and attributes and output) was a difficult match up in the forward line - too quick to put a big defender and too strong and good overhead to put a smaller defender on. If he continues that form in the AFL I can see him rotating midfield and forward as well. Again if the TAC form continues and we can isolate him on an opponent one on one he will be good.

Edit - we played Russell Robertson as a CHF at 184cm but the same applied to him as Petracca and farmer - the ball has to come in a certain way for them to be successful. Contrast Hogan - he can outbody the bigs, take a jump and mark and run players off their feet - he is your model for a CHF.

1966 StKilda - Ruckman Brian Mynott 193cm 92kg vs Collingwood - Ruckman Len Thompson 200cm 96kg

2015 Mark Jamar 198 101kg 5cm difference 2inches to Mynott Last time I looked 193 was 6" 4"

If you are good enough you are big enough.

Edit: And it was almost 50 years ago!

PS: Jason Dunstall was 188, Petracca is 186.

NOTE:- Gary Ablett snr 185cm Malcolm Blight 182cm Peter Hudson 188cm

So if you're good enough then you are big enough.

Slogans like this are rediculous. It's 2015 and the game has moved on to bigger blokes everywhere. Petracca will not play a true CHF unless every big fella we have is injured. Isn't that the main reason he wanted to push into the midfield last year? His true value is as a mid and a high half forward

So moonie how do you think Leigh Mathews 178cm 86kg would go playing forward today? or Alex Jesaulenko 182cm 86kg or Kevin Bartlett 175cm 71kg or Michael Voss 183cm 88kg

My point or slogan if you like is a good player is good enough regardless of size.

But back on topic I see Petracca as a forward midfielder.

Not in todays game mate.. dont know if you have notice but the times have change since those days

If your pinning your hopes of Petracca being our CHF we will be in serious trouble.

Your point is wrong mandee. In 2015 being good does not make you able to play well as a KP if you aren't a suitable size. Size and ability are both paramount.

I think a side made up from that list would beat any side today.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
