Yes... the new rule! Nathan Jones is allowed to be tackled in any manner by any number of opponents, concurrently, and he will not be given a free kick. I happened to be watching the game in one of the MCG bars today and witnessed an Adelaide monster wrap a meaty arm around his head and pile drive him dangerously into the turf! To add insult to near serious injury another Adelaide player jumped onto his back as if he was ready to compete at the Kapunda Rodeo. I suppose we should count our blessings that the umpire chose to ball it up instead of paying a free against Jones!

The umpiring was deplorable today, at times I wish the players would've walked off in protest.

Hopefully Roos can take it further, simply not good enough. This is AFL football. In this day and age, it is simply unacceptable.

The umpiring today was pathetic so many Crow throws and we never got a holding the ball all afternoon even when it was obvious

I rather liked the free against TMac for running too far when he actually bounced it just before the ump called.

Or the time when JFK's kick was called "Not Fifteen" before it was halfway through its arc. How could the ump tell how far the ball had gone before it had even reached its target?

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
