"Who was missing Petracca Trengove

......

Only one in rehab Hunt

ANB joined in full session again....."

This is the best news I have heard for......since I can't remember. The week before round 1 and we have only 3 players missing, two of whom are out for the season.

What a simply amazing outcome from the fitness and conditioning staff, it puts us in the best possible position in terms of available manpower for the coming season!

Misson said he needed 3 years to get the fitness levels up to the required standard, and it looks like he might have done it without breaking the players along the way.

Rohan Bails form has been disappointing this preseason so far. Any insight about where he sits in the scheme of things Saty?

Not sure with any of them, not sure how disappointing Bail has been, only real poor game was Essendon and nobody covered themselves in glory in that one apart from Garlett

If somebody asked me to name "my definites" for Rd 1 from what I have seen at training and games and trying to second guess Roos, I would go with N.Jones, Lumumba, Tyson, Salem, Jetta, Dunn. Tommy Mc, Jamar, Hogan, Garlett, Cross..and then the rest I have no idea...maybe only Watts and Howe, so the other 9 or 10 not sure, Bail and Matt Jones were in last year, so maybe they will be there this year at the beginning

On Hunt, I think they have seen the potential in him and want to get his back right, like they did with Hogan, so they are handling him with kid gloves, McCartney was in his ear, revving him up, must be a very frustrated footy player at the moment, hopefully he can get on the park sooner rather than later, he only has this year, unless they take a chance

On the other fitness news, Terlich will have a run with Casey this weekend, so only Hunt, Petracca, Trengove will probably miss out on a practice game , as they are looking at ANB for the last Casey praccy game in a fortnight

If the AFL season has started then the VFL practice games are no longer practice games for AFL players. Terlich and ANB are having late starts to the season.

I mean a practice game before a 'real' game GRRM, expect ANB to start at Casey, everybody is raving about Brayshaw, wait till they see ANB, bargain draft

I know what you mean, but I care much more for our players fighting for spots and developing than I do for the VFL ladder, therefore I consider this weeks VFL game not as a practice but as a fair dinkum legitimate game for our players.

I think you're right 'George', particularly with the AFL under way this week.

I know the rule about MFC players when the season proper has started, but does anybody know whether we can play as many players as we like in a praccy game without getting permission? If you are correct that we can play them all, then yes for most the challenge to get into the AFL team starts then for those who are not in for Rd1

I am very excited about McCartneys influence at the club. Having heard him speak before and speaking to people who know of his abilities he is a gem in developing players.

As an aside, ( and in defence of the much maligned Neeld) you see so many assistants of high quality that when they get the top job get swallowed up by pressures to produce results and basically don't handle the transition. We talk about doing due diligence on these assistants but history tells us that so many very well credentialed assistants are hired after extensive research and process and purely just don't make it

.

That we can get McCartney providing such valuable input without him being hamstrung with the pressures of the top job is indeed a coup.

Thanks Saty, what about the Pedo?

He has been training strongly, not sure where he fits in the pecking order now, interestingly he no longer trains with the rucks when they work with Stafford, probably had done enough match time not to play last Saturday

i rate the rise of The Pedo last year. Was excited to see where he got to this year, prefer him up forward than Frost.

Agreed, it is pleasure to watch him cruise around at training, he also acknowledges all the support staff and the few he sees watching regularly, liked him since he said my scooter was cool, he is also spending a lot of time with Goodwin, including last Saturday.

Can't wait for Saturday, hope the dark clouds has lifted, this is the longest I can remember when we have not had a easy win, for at lest one win in a season, can we have a win where we control the whole game and not look like losing please.

Thanks Saty, I want to see Pedo playing Dawes' role this weekend, and hopefully having a strong impact against the suns.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
