if we don't execute any trades, hopefully we can land one of schache, francis or weideman with our top pick and one of tucker or dunkley with our second rounder.

there's every chance we could still finish bottom two.

Every chance and every likelihood. Gold Coast will keep winning with Ablett back, Carlton are reinvigorated under Barker and Brisbane are finally reducing their injury list.

A Weideman on our list. If he was any good , how long would that last for? Somebody else might want the pick though.

dee-pressing, isn't it.

at the start of the year i said we'd finish last with two wins. we've got two more than that currently, but it's hard to see where the next one is coming from. as you say, the bears are starting to get players back, gc17 look a different team with judas in their line-up, and the blues are a bit like us - competitive but poor.

I think we will win around 2 or 3 more games and get a pick in the range 4 - 6. If we do not trade it for a high production gun mid I would like to see us draft a KPF. We hopefully have a fit Trengove back next year and Petracca should make an impact as a mid/medium forward. So for list balance a KPF would be good.

I don't think we'll get lower than pick 3, Gold Coast and Brisbane probably have those secured.

Next week could change that dynamic, of course. Carlton need only one more win and an improved percentage to beat us on the ladder though.

weitering and schache went head to head today in cold, blustery conditions in the dandenongs.

apparently weitering wiped the floor with him and was a clear bog, intercepting and rebounding.

when was the last time a key back went #1?

Tucker should slide to second round.

I'm personally worried about him being the second coming of James Strauss. I was expecting much more from him in the championship games.

Once Tucker tests and interviews, he will be top 10 for sure. Teams will love his aggression and competitive streak plus pace and left foot skills. Think Lewis, Hodge type of player. This is half thr battle. Get kids to be warriors. Think Hannebery. He was not the quickest/skilled player un under 18s but Swans loved his aggresive streak to win the footy. Tucker has this.

Id love to get Weidemann

We need another legit talented key forward , and he sounds ready made like Hogan. I think we have stocked up on mids and drafted well the last couple of years, we can take a KPP with our first rounder and go for more mids with our other picks.

agreed h_h... we need an understudy key forward, who is powerful & strong marking, & can 2nd ruck

I'll be rapt if Weideman fits this profile. and an added bonus, would be to shove it right up e'd's rear bum.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but apparently Weitering is a Dees supporter. Obviously it doesn't count for much but the football romantic in me would love him to come to his childhood team and hopefully help them along to a premiership

No chance he'll slip past Brisbane, unless Pickering scares them off (which is possible).

You don't hire that guy as your player agent 6 months out from the draft unless you want to influence which club drafts you.

how do we get Parish & Weideman ?

would we trade anyone for a top 12 pick ? would one of our rucks get us something?

Convince another club to sign Garland for 4 years at $500k, that'll do the trick. Pick 3 & 4 here we come!

(depends if Carlton can top us on the ladder -- hopefully unlikely).

I'm hoping we can land a Parish with our 1st, & gain an early midround pick Via trade or dealings for a Weideman. not sure Weideman will last till outside the ten, even with his current injuries.

If that what it takes, they can have a choice of either Dawes, Watts, Howe, to go with them taking Garland as a free agent, on $500K+ over 4 years.

out of that, I'd grab Parish & Weideman from the draft... & buy in Henderson from the blues & give them Gawn.

that leaves Prestia to be negotiated in some fashion, possibly involving players & future picks ?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
